However, Elliott who remains a holdout while waiting out a new contract, also noted that the NFL is "a business" while commending Todd Gurley (the recent recipient of a four-year, $60 million mega-deal) for "bringing value" back to the running back position. "It's just the nature of the game," said Zeke in acknowledgement of his current contract standoff with Dallas. "But I want to be a Dallas Cowboy for as long as I can." Elliott also credited the Cowboys' dominant O line for elevating him to elite status. The two-time rushing champ was reportedly offered a deal that would make him the league's second-highest-paid running back, though apparently it wasn't enough to move the needle. Tony Pollard would get the nod in Week 1 if Elliott isn't back by then.
Sorta begs the question, doesn't it? Semantics - say the right things, but do the wrong things! Then be reasonable on your contract, ask for a 7 year deal. That would wrap you up for most of your career.

The problem with this "hold out" is, he has 2 years left on his contract, and atleast 2 Franchise tags.
Whoops! Now there's a disquieting thought!Zeke is full of crap. He has been offered a great deal, according to reports. All he has to do is sign the deal and he would be a Cowboy for life. So why is he still holding out? He wants to earn more than Gurley. If you look at the deal after taxes, he would be taking home more than Gurley. Something else that Zeke is not addressing is preventing him from ending his holdout. I think he is avoiding a drug test.
pay him $0.01 over the total value of Gurley's contract
He needs to recognize the pattern how how jerry jones pays the first round picks he likes. He almost always pays them before the start of their fourth season. He needs to wait until next season and he should be paid.

No, that's not in his mind. This is ego driven - "highest paid RB". Otherwise he would have signed the latest offer. This is just a pride thing now - not about a couple million or anything like that. The problem with that is he is only set to make $3.5 million this year. In his mind playing for that is too big a risk. If his salary was in the $7-8 million range, he might not be holding out.
And fines start Sept 1st!I've got a better idea. Announce that the current team offer is good until 3:00 pm (Central) on August 31. After that, it is off the table and the next contract discussion will happen no sooner than 3:00 pm (Central) on March 18, 2020.
everyone will be happy when this guy runs over, around, and through the Giants in 13 days.
Maybe he does want to remain with the Cowboys? It's no different from any of us being in a job they like and all things equal would like to remain in. Not that it would stop us from leaving if we had a rare opportunity (like a huge difference in pay).you are right but don't make all these tweets like its so important that u remain a cowboy just tell the truth I want the most money and I really don't care who it is that pays it
