How many Top 3 or 4 paid running backs have won the Super Bowl in the salary cap era?

How many teams with Top 3 or 4 paid running backs remained Super Bowl contenders?

Running back is one of the least valuable positions on the field because there are so many good, productive running backs available - and available for cheap. Spending a ton of money on a running back is foolish because it takes away money from other positions that are harder to fill with productive players.
Then blame the stupid GM that took one 4th overall.

Who cares when it was done? You really think Zeke playing in preseason or training camp would make a difference?

I've never played professional football so I can only go on what other people say. I believe yesterday a former back (I forget who) said it takes 2 weeks for a rb to get ready for an NFL game. Not just in shape but mentally ready to take hits with bodies flying around. We also have a new OC and I hope he's adding new wrinkles (like the 21 with Zeke and Pollard as backs) to our offense So in that sense I think TC makes a difference. .

Bingo.

Zeke is a great player. But he plays a position where the return never seems to match the investment. Teams win all the time hodge podging the TB spot.

And LOL if we sign Zeke and pay him more than Gurley literally days after Jerry basically said we don't need to spend a lot of money on a TB to compete for a SB.
DING DING DING DING DING DING!!!!

Teams that pay top money for running backs do NOT win Super Bowls.

dude stop setting yourself up,

name the top PAID 3-4 QB and WR who have done so SINCE GETTING THEIR NEW DEALs..NOT ONE QB that was the highest paid QB last season even made the playoffs..

giving Dak over 30 and Amari over 17 would be MORE foolish..lest stop playing this game.. the window seems to be open fo short time while you have ALL your young players under cheap deals to get to a SB or win one before they are due a big new deal.. after that they ALL tax your cap to point you cant build team as good as the one before the new deals were up.. again NE the exception..

it is SPORTS...but the NFL more so..

Laugh all you want but the math doesn't lie.

They are becoming unbalanced again in spending offense versus defense............. and that's with some key guys possibly needing new contracts on offense like Byron Jones, Maliek Collins, Robert Quinn (if they want him beyond this year), etc.

Dak and Coop are too classy to act like crybabies.
Oh I agree, but given what's happening... They're being punished for being classy. Not right.

Especially Coop. A genuinely sweet human being who has performed at a level that leaves no doubt he deserves big money.

So how many low tier RB's have won them also?
If there are so many available then why don't every team dump their RB's every year and just go with the cheapest RB they can sign?

Nobody had Superbowl rings in 3 years. And Zeke had 135 rec in 3 years and Emmitt had 132 in 3 years

Your stupid point failed again.

Actually, Emmitt's 3rd season was 1992, they won the Super Bowl in 92, 93 and 95. You can respond without being rude. :)

Yep.

We are where they are because of a mistake they made 4 drafts ago.

What's funny is this is playing out almost like that all over again. They wouldn't overpay Murray because their research said if was a risky move investing lots of assets into a TB. Then less than 12 months later, they use a 4th pick on a TB handing him one of the highest TB contracts in football (which should have told you how the league views TBs). And then here we go again. Jerry says a few days ago you don't need an elite TB to win............. and then literally a few days later, the rumor is we are about to sign a TB to a huge contract.

I don't think they actually have a plan or a philosophy. I think they just think accumulating good players, regardless of position (and their value in the league) is how they can win.

What a cluster_____.

You draft a guy 4th overall and he goes all pro you pay him. Regardless of position. If you don't feel the position is valuable enough to pay but spend a top 5 pick on you are an imbecile lol. The pick should have been ramsey

They always do the wrong thing and then dramatically over-correct. It'd be funny if it weren't our team.

Coop isn't being punished. He doesn't want a deal now. Everyone has been reporting it.
He wants to play and then ask for top dollar.
His group aren't even approaching the FO now.

Explains why he wants 2000 yards.

Why give him a deal at all if he has no leverage?

No leverage would mean Zeke shows up with no deal and plays on his current deal.

Zeke’s leverage = we are a playoff caliber team with him

Without him, see 2017

Hot damn Willie......we don't always agree but you nailed this sucker :hammer:
