Frazier is basically a Barry Church clone. Great on special teams, OK as a box safety only, but absolutely atrocious in coverage.
More of a Keith Davis clone. Church was a solid Safety. Frazier like Davis is a down roster Safety who excels of ST, but can be exposed if he has to play alot of defensive snaps. Davis was probably a better player. He had a decent stretch in 2009 as the SS when Sensibaugh got hurt

I thought Frazier looked good in 2017 and was gonna be even better the next year. Kinda surprised he didnt get more playing time last year. He is a physical tackler and hits hard. Probably good special teams player.
He did up until the Seattle game. Basically got benched after that. I dont remember what his overall performance was that game, but I do remember he got beat bad for a long TD when he left the deep right part of the field completely undefended

Hopefully. McClain would instantly be our 4th best linebacker and one hamstring pull away from being our 3rd.

Dang, bruh. That’s optimistic for a guy who hasn’t sniffed the field in awhile. Also, Joe Thomas is a starter on half the other teams.

Frazier had basically 3 phases to the 2017 season:

Snap Count Percentages
26.80% ...... Games 1-4
8.30% ...... Games 5-11
35.34% ...... Games 12-16

Woods played more in the middle of the season than earlier.

Woods played Slot CB in late season games AND they replaced Byron Jones with Frazier in obvious running situations in those later games.

Hardy? The joke who is fighting in MMA because no one wants him? :muttley:

McClain doesn't care about football. He cares about McClain. Anyone with a clue sees him for what he is, and isn't counting on him for anything.

Without looking,, and feel free,, I wont spend the time to look at my own past posting history, but Ive always felt that Frazier was a 1 dimensional safety, old school, in the box safety.
Thought he had athletic ability against the run, more than trying to cover RBs and Tes, much less any WR coverage, maybe support at best in the passing game, but I always had the belief that Frazier is more than competent in the box.

... and take a bow.

And. Explain why you thought that would happen. Other than Knight being on the 53, that one's the biggest surprise fer me.
with Wilson te S getting hurt and he plays ST we need some depth..obviously he must have been better or the same as ILoka and do we get some draft pick comp from ILOka being cut?

surprise to me was Ced wilson getting cut and Smith gets the nod..I thought Ced was better in PS and did good job returning punts ..shocked he was cut

I had Wilson and Smith neck and neck just from the casual fan perspective, but what separated Smith just ever so slightly, was his attitude, and what I mean by that is he had this attitude when he was in play.
Call it a chip on the shoulder, whatever you want to call it,, Devin Smith played and caught balls pissed off,, and this is just my perspective, coaches made the decision based on much deeper thought process,, lol
It had to be a tough call, one of those all nighter decision making moments,, hope Wilson finds his way back to retention,, but they were both so close.

Either way brother,, this team is so much deeper at WR right now than just a year ago.
This roster is very deep.
I look forward, cant wait to see the DL depth threads start coming out.. dangity dang.

I would be the first guy to bring back Gregory, Quinn, Irving and Hardy for week 1 if they were available. McClain situation is a little different because we are very deep at star LB, but why not strengthen your team as much as possible?
