The owners have created a system that creates bad guys out of the players. It's sad fans are too stupid to realize what's going on.
The truth is... there are no bad guys in this. Elliott wanting to get what he deserves while he still has max value, and a team wanting to maximize its salary cap as much as possible.

They’re all on the same team, after all, and want to win games.

In short... they’re all on my team and I wanted both sides to get what they wanted. But mainly, I wanted Elliott and Pollard on the field against the Giants.

Look at that, all three sides won!:)

I get what you are saying but you are probably going a little overboard. A RB is not THAT important. He can go in tomorrow and take handoffs and run the football. It's a little different if the QB or WR holds out.

with zeke back, garrett will probably have us go back to the old run to set up the pass offense instead of a pass to set up the run offense.
just like the witten 5 yard route and the jumbo formation

the whole thing does not make sense.

1. they should have figured out whether dak and cooper are worth the $. with the giants, Commanders and dolphins, that was the best low-risk opportunity to get them a try-out without zeke. to be honest, i am more pissed at jerry about this than the overpay.
2. there is no large contract for other rb this year. highly highly unlikely. i highly doubt the sd rb will get 10m/year.
3. we are talking about 2 years + 40 million most likely - that is probably 5 years. it is highly unlikely that zeke's prime is going to last another 5 seasons. they overpaid by at least 1 season. no one knows the final structure, but that is probably at least 13 million. obviously that is more than what goodell penalized us for.

You are most likely borrowing worries. It's all about guaranteed money to the player. Whether Zeke plays 3 or 7 years, he wants AT LEAST $x million. It will be reneg'ed after 3 years no matter what. He will get $45 million or $15 mil/per. It's high but if he leads the league in rushing for 3 years, no one will care. I know I won't...

sorry but i just explained that.
i am assuming the best case scenario - 2 years under existing contract + 3 years extension.

right - i am assuming the best case is we get the next 2 years at the original contract rate.

It is what it is...If Zeke leads the league for 3 straight years, stays outta trouble (miracle) then sure reneg it! If not you are only hogtied for 3 years max...

If zeke is ready that means the boy genius is just a play caller for Garrett’s playbook... and most likely the first in line sacrificial lamb.

it is not just the amount in zeke's contract. it is the front office showing its willingness to bend over. other agents are going to be all over it.

i really dont care about the multimillionaire or the multibillionaire.
i just want the team to win championships.
the team had the leverage but was too scared to even take a small chance.
pathetic.

What would you have done?

Actually I think they have been more than stern. Probably surprising some of these agents with their New England "attempts". Ultimately they just need to find middle ground and get things done that benefit both sides. New England has coaching that eliminates the need for big contracts. The other 31 teams don't have the luxury IMO.
