This could have been resolved much earlier if he’d set his ego aside.

We knew where this headed when we set the Gurley contract as the starting point in negotiations.

I’ll give Stephen credit for seeing this thru and Jerry finally signing off on it. I felt pretty good this was going to happen before season begun but the drama dragging out wasn’t necessary . Almost seemed intentional by Big Daddy.

Now we can get the Dak deal done.

Yes, it is Jerry's fault for dragging this out and all the drama. The Cowboys should just bend over immediately every time somebody demands a new contract.

The point is we knew we were going to sign him. And we knew the Gurley contract was the starting point . We ended up basically where we thought it was going. Making him the highest paid RB.

I can’t imagine fans who didn’t think we were going to sign him which meant making him the highest paid RB.

The rest was just jockeying for position in negotiations.

Didnt rely bend over if you look at the WHOLE contract
I think only 50 million is guaranteed . The extension is 6 years which if you include final two years of this deal it averages out to less than 13 million a year over 8 years.

I guess Zeke told Jerry "toe on the line, sign the check"

I guess a SB for Jerry is worth it.

Without at least one SB, it will be a miserable failure

We have no idea what the plan was b/c the cowboys were not expecting him to be in Cabo during training camp. . I'm sure lack of a contingency had more to do with caving in as much as anything. So, much for Stephen claiming he's not going to set the market.

If the Cowboys dont win a SB under this contract with Zeke it will go down as the worst mistake JJ has made in his tenure as owner.
There’s never any guarantees but this ensures the future is now. This is our best shot to make a run these next couple years with core of talent we have.

What do you mean by WHOLE contract?

Zeke sets RB record for total contract size, new money, AAV, and guarantees. That's just about the WHOLE contract that we bent over on.

It’s not that “Jerry can’t win with some of you”...It’s more accurate to say based on the last two decades that Jerry can’t win.
I think Jerry deserves some credit for seeing this through. I’d critique him for dragging the drama out.

I’m pleased we signed him and still have a pretty good sense on what Jerry is going to do.

And this doesn’t guarantee we’re winning anything more from here. But it does provide us a better opportunity. At this point that’s all we can hope for.

8 years at 103 mil 50 guaranteed. And we havent seen the structure sit. Averaged out that's under 13 mil a year. The guaranteed I believe includes the next 2 years of his rookie deal as well. His actual contact doesnt even start until 2021/22 when the new CBS starts and the salary will have jumped at least 20 mil. By then his 12.9 wont look like much and his 50 lol guaranteed probably has suspension ok n clauses and escape clauses that's what I mean about the WHOLE contract. Dont look at the initial numbers its ALWAYS misleading. Just sounds good lol!

I think some of this may have been Elliot’s ego also. Kudos to whomever came up with the 6 years and worked out the money, allowed both sides to get what they want.
