Completely agree... The linebackers are a problem too. Their positioning has been terrible.

They are great players but they've been part of the problem.

We don't have stout linebackers who stand linemen up. They need our dline to hold their gaps so they can pursue. Once they get caught up in traffic they are ineffective.

I agree. I would hate to see them take anyone lightly. In watching their prior game against the Eagles, it looked early on like Philadelphia did just that. The Eagles seemed to think that they could just show up and get a 'W' and found out pretty quickly that the Commanders had come to play. That's a mistake I do not wish to repeat. But having said that, once the Eagles 'woke up' in the second half, it was all over. I only hope that the Cowboys start the game the way the Eagles finished it. If that happens, I think our overall talent level trumps theirs.

I expect to go in and win that game but I have never been one to take any game for Granted. It is week 2 and no one fully knows who is who in the NFL. Some people right now think they know who the top teams are and who the bottom dwellers are and yet surprises happen every year. Cowboys need to go into Washington firing on all cylinders.

Very true. As poorly as Washington's run game looked in week one, their passing game - and Keenum in particular - looked much sharper than I expected going in, and likely better than the Eagles were expecting.

Anyone concerned about AP getting the start this Sunday over an injured Guice? Or is this in our favor?
why wouldn't you he played well against us last year and is angry he didnt even play last week, so hes fresh.. add that our Dline has given up 400 yards rushing in our last 2 games played..i mean look back further to the colt game etc.. they haven't been great for while stopping the run and teams know it..

AP is chomping at the bit for chance to run over our dline.. they better fix it or our Safetys will have 10plus tackles each again and that not good..

No doubt Philly stopped the skins rushing attack but Washington hit them with some big plays down the field. I think we all recognize if being honest that Philly is a good team and Washington put up 27 on them.

I disagree. I think Dallas wants guys attacking on defense no matter who they play. They want DL to penetrate into the backfield and disrupt the offense be it run or pass.
We will see against the Skins. They are going to try to run the ball down our throats and try to beat us over the top. With Peterson back, Reed back, and Williams possibly playing their offense will be a challenge.

Can he play defense for the Skins? I watched the second half of their game against the Eagles and they have some major issues on defense. Their LB and secondary were destroyed by the eagles. I think we can at least put some points on them.

last week the defense was designed to rush with just four lineman. no blitzes. nothing out of the ordinary. it was by design. and while it didn't look good on the stat sheet, it held new York to few points and we won. Peterson ain't saquon. so no, i'm not worried. I would expect Kris Richard to game plan differently for the skins.

Their defense is slow as molasses

And they’re extremely cocky....if they get a 7 point lead they’ll back off because they think the other team is going to quit

yes. Count me as concerned. His forte is running north south between the tackles. EXACTLY what we struggle with. We better be ready.

The Cowboys want their DL to get penetration and be disruptive,

I get this to an extent but man it seems that when a run is fully expected the call would be to at least tone this down. We are opening the holes for the offense. Not learning from mistakes annoys me.

He's still a good back but we managed to win against Barkley. I dont think he will hurt us as much.

Yes, the run defense must get better, but Barkley's going to make quite a few run defenses look bad this season.

And yes, the DL and LBs must play better.

But my overall concern is the defensive philosophy on 1st and 2nd down, with formations that are easy to read, no imagination, and few run blitzes. They need to threaten the LOS more with 8 and 9 in the box, and they can just drop at the snap to protect against a big play. They need to get into the opposing QB's head a bit.

Conversely, that's why Moore's offense seemed to effective. All the pre-snap shifts and adjustments keep the defense guessing, and makes it harder to predict what's coming at them from snap to snap. Basically, the Cowboys need some Moore-like imagination on defense, so they're not always just sitting ducks on each play. More pre-snap movement, and more deception. On defense, the Cowboys are playing Checkers, and just hoping that the Cowboys players win all the individual matchups. Many times, the offense is playing chess.

Yes, the Dee may give up the occasional Big Play, but the soft Bend But Don't Break philosophy is just not a recipe for intimidation or long-term success. Yes, BBDB limits these Big Plays, but it's so passive and easy to exploit. Ultimately, it saps the enthusiasm out of the front 7 on the early downs, and it negates the abilities of our fast, young LBs, who can quickly shoot gaps and run down RBs and QBs on the backside. I feel like the Cowboys are always waiting to simply get to 3rd down to blow things up, but there should be more attempts to wreak havoc in the early downs.

Right now, the Cowboys O looks somewhat intimidating....they need a similar threat on defense. It starts with coaching and the Coordinator.

To not be concerned playing an East opponent on their turf is to ignore history. They scored 27 at the Linc and Keenum had 380 yards and 3 TDs. Those two bombs from Wentz to Jackson did them in when the had a good lead at the half.

There are two things we don't know. How good are the Cowboys and how bad are the Giants? One thing we do know, the Cowboys D has not arrived.

All I know if Cowboys better be ready to play run defense and pass defense. This Commanders home opener with Cowboys coming to town, skins will be jacked up and Cowboys better be ready to match that intensity. I'm not trying to make Skins into a SB champ but this is not a game the Cowboys can sleep on.

From experience of living in VA and attending Skins vs. Dallas games. Dallas will be well represented. A lot of skins fans are tired of the product.

I know I have seen a good showing of Cowboy fans even back during the RFK stadium days. Again I don't take games for Granted. You can blame Tom Landry for that, I grew up watching the Tom Landry show and every opponent that the Cowboys would be facing he could make it out to be the hardest team we would face regardless if they had a bad record or not. So I guess growing up in that culture I have always looked at every game as a challenge not to be taken lightly.

Much rather face him than Barkley again. That said, our run D needs to get it's crap together. Very disappointing first game overall...
