Now the Dak is greedy posts can start. lol
By the same people who were saying Zeke should get every cent he can. I would LOVE to see Dak make an absurd demand and refuse to play a la Zeke. Jerry would have his check book out in a NY minute. I guess Dak isn’t as selfish as Zeke and Jerry knows that.

Don’t let him run you over Dak, you could get injured in Sundays game and kiss that money goodbye. Take a seat now!

It is any general manager's responsibility to be smart with a franchise's salary cap, not the player. That said, the general manager may be able to forecast how a current large signing can be reasonably and positively absorbed into annual salary cap increases. Or not. GM's have a lot of responsibility--even those who make themselves one for life, lol.

As someone who is clearly benefitting from the high level of talent around him, and as a "team leader", I would expect that a forward thinking QB would recognize the advantages of not breaking the bank (cue Tom Brady).

Yeppers. Unfortunately, pro sports is the quintessential "what have you done for me lately" league. One bad game and both Dak and Moore will be roasted

But we are used to that. Look how long Romo was here. And look at Garrett still here.

Bad game or not, the measuring stick is hella low and there ain't too much we can afford to complain about.

If Moore and Dak fails then so be it. On to the next as always.

Heres just one of many examples out there. Many people endorsing 50 mil. Try researching first theres tons of posts like that

https://cowboyszone.com/threads/prescott-is-already-a-50-million-dollar-man.439590/

The $50M is endorsements that have zero impact on his negotiation.......I'm speaking about his critic who wanted Jerry to hold off signing him for say $32-33M so they could see more.

BTW...this is from your last post

some of Dak"s cheerleaders want him to break the bank and make double the salary of Brady as though it vindicates their support of him........as you said, an exorbitant, ludicrous salary only hurts the TEAM.

I'm a Dak stan but this greed could come back to bite him in the arse if half the squad around him has to be let go preserve cap space. He's really being short sighted and missing the bigger picture.

Question......when would you like to see him sign, now or wait until after the season or as some say, make him prove himself some more.
I have two very good friends. One is a fellow Cowboys fan like myself. The other has always wavered between the 49ers and the Raiders (but will never admit it :muttley: ).

My answer is the same here as the one I told them last March. I expected Jerry Jones would have both Prescott and Elliott signed before the end of preseason.

And just like I tell my friends (constantly  ) each time they bring up the subject, I am always only concerned with what is going on between Jones' ears and formulate my opinions based on what I think he will do. Jones signs the checks. No one else, including myself, signs players to contracts. So, any desire on my part for Prescott to 'prove himself' in order to 'earn a contract' is irrelevant in my thinking. I do not put myself through the illogic of:

"Okay DE! Let's jot down ALL the things Prescott must improve in his game to warrant that huge contract! That is a good point... Yeah he must get better at that too! And this..!"

BREAKING NEWS: JERRY JONES SIGNS DAK PRESCOTT TO MAMMOTH CONTRACT!

"aw crap."

Nope. Not wasting my time with that self-deluded nonsense.

Prescott is an intelligent young man. He is also not Tom Brady.

Jones will want to pay Prescott. In reality, no one is forcing him to pay Prescott one additional dime more than he wants. Jones has the option of moving his franchise beyond Prescott and 'save' the salary cap.

Jones will not do that though. He cannot dial up 800-QTR-BACK and easily replace a player he believes is a franchise-caliber one. As unintelligent as some of his critics believe him to be, Jones comprehends how any signing will both impact his salary cap's bottom line and flexibility in future roster acquisitions beneficial for sustained successful stability. Jones is also a gambler, who is willing to bet the future will swing favorably his way.

Prescott, like others before him, are easy targets for those who do not appreciate the team's salary cap getting blown up from within. Jones should be the target but isn't. Personally, my expectations are directed at a lifetime self-entrenched general manager making all the 'right' moves to bring home a Lombardi Trophy to Cowboys fans--and not at Prescott.

Really happy to see Moore start using RPOs more in this offense. It will be interesting to see the next phase where teams get some tape on us and if/how Moore can adjust.

I really had issues with his hire given his inexperience, but for one week, he looked like a really smart choice.

Regardless of his performance on Sunday, his pay should be in the range of Wentz and Goff. It, frankly, shouldn't be hard to get a deal done now with those two signed. The only hold up is either the Cowboys are low balling him still or he thinks he should get Russell Wilson or more type money.

Jesus, one game when we beat the current 29th ranked team and people are issuing apologies. Can’t wait to see the hype after we destroy the current 28th ranked team, the Commanders, followed by the 32nd ranked team, the Dolphins.

On a side note, after watching New Orleans play I’m already feeling confident about that game. Their secondary is horrible and Eli Apple is still playing, the same Eli Apple that Houston exploited and that was directly responsible for our win last year. If Linehan could expose that loser, I’m sure Moore will have a field day.
That’s how it works. You beat up on bad defenses and when good defense come you don’t beat up on them because they are.......a good defense.

Would not shock me one bit if he got Russell money. It’s why I kept stressing either sign him or move on. But everyone stressed his value couldn’t get any higher. He produced under subpar weapons and piss poor coaching. They sold us this offseason they have better coaching and personnel.......so the only place for Dak to go was up and him and his team probably knew that as well.

You are not alone. Some people are focused on the Giants defense's weaknesses. I was impressed with the offense's overall crisp execution. Moore deserves appropriate credit.

The potential has already been made plain-and-clear. It is undeniable. The question mark centers upon whether the offense can maintain their efficiency against better defenses. Any implied or express uncertainty is not true about what the offense has already demonstrated it is capable of doing.

get Dak signed Stevie!! I don't want my franchise QB getting hurt with a deal looming. WTH...why aint he and Amari done? Right now I would sign Dak to a 7 year deal worth 160 mil. Amari was better than Julio last week...PAY THE MAN.

Cooper is already on record saying he is willing to wait. Why force him to sign now when it is not what he wants?

and thats an excellent point. If someone likes the player and wants them to be the franchise QB thats fine, to each their own, but some of Dak"s cheerleaders want him to break the bank and make double the salary of Brady as though it vindicates their support of him........as you said, an exorbitant, ludicrous salary only hurts the TEAM.

I wanted to re-sign Zeke but if it was 10 million dollars less i would have been much happier. Some just don't get Economics 101

Show me one post where someone indicated they want Dak to break the bank and make double Brady's salary.

I couldn't disagree more,,, this sounds more like an argument for those predisposed towards class-warfare or personal dislike than someone actually looking at the negotiation taking place. Dak is a team leader and has leverage in these negotiations, he is every bit a part of this equation as the front office.

Because they don't want to worry about him becoming a free agent and negotiating with other teams.
