I think it’s all about # of years. I think Dak is willing to take less per year on a 4 yr contract than more on a 7. Dallas wants him locked up long term.

Not sure I agree with the highest paid APY but how about him signing the largest NFL contract ever for a player ( only coz it's 6-7 years). Other words, he could be the first player to sign an NFL contract of $200M+.
