Underrated part of the game

11 minutes to go and the Saints pick up a holding penalty that puts them in a 1st and 20.

An elite defense doesn't allow a team with a backup QB to get that first down. But we did. And allowed the Saints to basically chew 5-6 minutes off the clock.

I hate how we play defense at times in certain situations. I know, we are effective, but we are too conservative for our own good at times.

1st and 20, we give up 6 yards on a screen. Not bad. But then the next play is what drives me ******* crazy with Richard and Marinelli. We drop into our patented deep zone and give up an easy 8 yard pass to a TE with no one around him. That gives the Saints a manageable 3rd and 6.

We don't seem to challenge any short passes. We seem content to just sit back, give the completion and hope Smith, LVE, Lee or Thomas come up, make the tackle and we live to see another day. Good teams will exploit that and take the 6-7 yards and just work their way down the field against us.

Just a rant about a particular part of the game that frustrated me. You can't give up a first down in that situation. Just can't.

Dude, the defense gave up 12 points? When a defense holds a team to under 17pts that should be a win. The offense and special teams needed to do more. The team has to put the game behind them and prepare for the next one.

It's hard to argue with the final results. 12 points. But there are moments in that game tonight that we have seen in the first three games and it's going to haunt us against really good opponents.

We just seem to be perfectly content conceding those easy, 5-6 yard passes. Which is odd given the LBs we have.

Plain and simple fumbles , penalties negating critical plays. Poor execution period, gets you beat. It's just 1 game

Richard needs to understand the timing and what Sean Payton was doing... Teddy is a game manager he isn’t looking to throw a bomb... dink and dunk

Right after we scored the go-ahead TD, Sean Lee had a chance to tackle Kamara for a loss on 1st down but missed the tackle. That play was a momentum changer.

Especially in close games like tonight. Can’t play that bending style of defense and always get away with it. They’ll never create turnovers playing that style, and turnover are the name of the game in close games (as evidenced by us losing the TO battle tonight)

It could be Joe Montana. If you're on the QB in <3 seconds you're gonna win that battle more than you lose it.
