Why was Jaylon Smith being taken off the field?

I think the coaches are noticing the flaws that he has in his game and getting him off the field in those obvious situations.

Dude turns like a sail boat. He can fly sideline to sideline or straight forward but when he has to flip his hips it's like Bradie James out there.
I think you need some new material. You put this in every post you make about Jaylon.

LVE is twice the player Smith is.
Please stop with the comparisons. VanJaylon is the best linebacker duo in the league. They played awesome yesterday. The game showed their best qualities. Payton says they are the best and remember his division has Luke and the Atlanta linebacker.

There was a discussion on a Dallas radio station two weeks ago that suggests Jaylon cannot make the cut back to his right after he is moving left. The comments were that he cannot push off his left foot without taking a hop step to get his right foot under him.

It was also noted that the league has figured this out, and runners are setting him up by going to his left and making the cut to beat him.

I have no opinion either way. Just tossing this out there as perhaps a reason why he is getting taken off the field. Which makes no sense to me.

I can only assume it's for rotation purposes and to keep him fresh. Tank was out on quite a few third downs and Quinn was on the sideline with him for some plays as well.

A lot of exaggerated problems being expressed here. Aside from the fact we held the Saints to 12 points, and aside from the fact this is one game and not necessarily how things will go every game, there could be all sorts of factors players played more or less in this one. Some of those are listed here - keeping legs fresh, Smith rushing the passer more, Lawrence still getting his shoulder healthy, things the coaches may be seeing that fit one player's skills more than another, a minor injury … who knows, maybe other things. It's not as if the results were poor. 6 of the Saints 12 points were largely the result of great field position after we fumbled.

Football is such a fast sport that there's no way runners are able to to predetermine this

I believe the point the radio hosts were making is he cannot physically make the cut without taking an extra step to get his weight on his foot leg..

Does anyone know? I know they did this vs the dolphins but I figured that was just because they’re bad but I saw it plenty of times last night also. What gives?
Dunno.

Why do they play the entire 2nd string line at the same time...for seemingly entire drives?

We rotate the entire defense based on down and distance at different intervals throughout the game. Marinelli has them all running to the ball so he tries to keep them fresh...
Pretty much this.
