While the Packer game is a good measurement to where we are at this point and how serious a contender in conference the bigger game is looming in a couple weeks heading into our bye.

Win tomorrow but lose against Egirls won’t put us in better shape at midway mark.

Anything less than 5-2 will place our season in jeopardy with a brutal stretch beginning in Week 10.

Love your deep cognitive level. I just take it game by game. If the teams stack enough wins together, they make the playoffs. I think the key to winning in the playoffs, begins with getting to the playoffs. If we lose against the Packers, the team just needs to improve enough to continue winning. If we beat the Packers, it still does not guarantee a Super Bowl. I get what you’re saying about the Eagles .

Go Dallas!!!

we better start 6-2 , theres so much good talent coming our way the last 8, if we slip we could go 3-5 and be bounced at a WC or no playoffs..so no looking ahead..this could get ugly.. a reverse of last year is a possibility..

I hope not...

I’m simply attempting to provide perspective for a broader view. Too often we see over reaction after individual games. But yes, we do take it week by week.

The bigger point is even if we win tomorrow if we lose to Egirls going into bye we won’t necessarily be in better shape.

Well that means a GB or Philly loss?
Unacceptable!
Setting a goal that includes a loss maybe realistic, but sends negative vibes.

It’s a realistic expectation.

We know there will be some losses. Which loss is bigger for us. Egirls or Packers?

Of course the record is going to be fine when four of your first six games were/are absolute gimmes: Giants (with Eli), Skins, Dolphins, Jets.

What people want to see are some wins against the non-clueless teams like you'll face in the playoffs.

2018, at 3-5, going into the brutal part of the schedule as well. Then they go 7-1.

There is no reason this team can't be 6-1 going into the bye week.
6-1 would be awesome. I’m not sure that’s a realistic expectation.

My point is we’ll be in good shape at 5-2. And a win over Egirls would probably be bigger than over Packers.

We caught a bit of a break with those two Eagle losses. They are two dropped passes from being 4-0. Instead, they lost two games to conference foes that will be in the playoff hunt. At this point, even if we split with the Eagles, there is a very good possibility that we will win almost all tie breakers with them thanks to those two losses, unless we totally crap the bed the rest of the schedule after our bye week.

Take care of business at home split the road games and it gets them to 12-4 or 11-5 with a stumble in Jerry’s casa.

We should be 4-0, the Saints game was close and all it would have taken was eliminating one fumble or other mistake.
I'll feel better once we make to the bye week, we need to rest some players.

Why do people keep bringing up 2018?

Yes, we came back from a poor start to make the playoffs, but what did we actually accomplish in the playoffs?

The Cowboys need to aim much higher than just winning the division. With the way the NFC is shaping up this year and with the way this team has started the season, the goal should be getting a bye and HFA throughout the playoffs. If we're every going to make noise in the playoffs with this coaching staff we have to decrease the number of playoff games Garrett has to coach and we must prevent our high-powered offense ever having to leave the friendly confines of Cowboys Stadium.

6-1 should be the goal at the bye and honestly 8-1 should be the record heading into Detriot. Anything less would be disappointing.

5-2 or we are pretenders. 6-1 and we are still on the contender list.

Exactly. Standards have now been upped to contender status and SB caliber team.

So the only question is...........are we even that good?

Making the playoffs for this team should be the low bar.
