I think Jaylon looked fine. If anything, LVE appeared a step behind and a second too late to every play.

The Cowboys LBs are all disappointing this year. The running game is failing because the LBs always seem out of position. You never see Cowboys LBs in the hole. They are always making tackles 5 yards down field. That's because teams are running right at them. But some of the blame also goes to the DL. If they can block your $100 million DE with a TE and WR, and then block your DTs one on one or even double 1 then they can get a lineman downfield to take out the LB and the RB gets 6 to 8 yards.

Where is Tank Lawrence? The biggest need for Dallas the last 3 years has been DT. At some point they need to acknowledge this and fix it. I've said before, I'd give up one of those highly touted LBs for an all-pro DT any day of the week.

In the limited time he's played, I think Thomas has easily been our most consistent LB.

Twice I saw him running with a labored gait.

One thing to note............. Jaylon has always run like a spaz at times. This dates back to college. He's very fast and athletic but he's not that guy that has a smooth running style and movement to him. His head is sometimes always bobbing and his arms are flailing around.

Again, I am in no way suggesting he isn't hurt with some, any, injury here. I have no idea but I think people might be overanalyzing his movements at this point because he's just not playing well (frankly, none of Lee, Smith or LVE are playing great).

Anybody else remember how great Bruce Carter was in his first season as a starter? I thought he was going to be the second coming...

I think when we are talking about the defense as a whole it seems there is something wrong with the scheme . Since Richard took over the play calling it looks like players are more and more out of position consistently. I just have a hard time believing that all of a sudden our lb core can't play. It's more to do with the position that the D coach is putting them in. It's been a problem all year.

We added Quinn and the defense somehow regressed.
Im sure fixing him will solve all of our problems.
The problem is so much bigger than an uber athletic LB who over runs a few plays.
It would be interesting to see how the Patriots played after being down 28-3 in the SB, and how the Cowboys played yesterday.

My comment was in regards to Elliot, but I agree with everything you said.

Jaylon is done. He got his contract and established himself as a face of the team...he will just be a marketable Darren Hambrick from now on

How anyone can talk about Jaylon Smith when his buddy next door Leighton was by far the worst player on the field on both teams..

Jaylon also played mediocre but compared to Leighton it was a hall of fame performsnce.

Jaylon is better going forward. He tremendous on the blitz. He played well. He is the least of our problems. The scheme is the issue. The Packers attacked us like the Titans, Colts, Giants and Rams. The coaches have not adjusted.

Really? Guy is on pace for about 130 tackles right now. Leads the team. 2 sacks last 2 games. That play on Watson last year at the goal line was a rare play for a LB. The guy is good.

Can you name anyone on the defense that is having a good year? Anyone?

What does that tell you?
We were told this guy gave us a discount! I'm like...? Answer this for me...is he better than dexter Coakley, Randall Godfrey, dat Nguyen, Rolando McClain, Sean lee, Anthony Hitchens? I'm not talking about with his shirt off. I'm talking making football plays...he mostly looks lost!

He was a consensus top 5 LB last year by all the stats. I think you are the one that might need to take a second look.
What stats? He was like 15th in tackles, something like 30th in passes defensed, didn't have a pick, and had only 4 sacks.

He is the same player this year he was last year, he just hasn't had the same splash plays.

All I know is Jones was shaking everybody out of their boots last night with plenty of ridiculous cut-backs. LVE was often times the first guy there, but Jones kept making him miss.

GB set a lot of this up attacking the outside early and systematically, including with plenty of screens.

I am going to say last year was the first year you could really judge Smith given his injury. So the body of work is small. Coakley - Too soon. Godfrey - you are kidding right? Nguyen - Too soon. McClain - again, is this a joke? Way better than that turd. Lee - No. Hitchens - Yes. Clearly you don't like the guy and have decided to single him out for the garbage play. Problems go way beyond Smith. He is a rare talent that will be a fixture here for years.
