Ironically, Walker ended up playing for Dallas again a decade later, in 1997.

The only modern-day parallel is how the Saints traded an enormous bundle of draft picks to the Commanders in return for Ricky Williams, who turned out to be an RB bust. Thankfully, the Commanders were the only team in the league who could be given so much and have so little to show for it. Shannon Sharpe (or someone else) questioned how the Commanders could have failed to turn into a dynasty, given so much.

Lesson learned. Do not trade every draft pick we have for a guy we *think* will be a franchise QB or RB. Franchise RBs don't exist anymore, but point still stands on the QB point, especially since we already have one.

I sure wish this organization could pull off another highway robbery like that again.
But that trade is why no other team will ever pull a trade like that again.

I like the trade now. I didn't like the trade at the time.

Walker is still one of my all time favorites. An amazing athlete.

The salary cap era rules change the perspective of trading for veterans.

Randy Galloway was the biggest critic of the trade among many...who knew what it would turn into. The Rams did the same when they traded Dickerson but weren't able to capitalize on it.
