I randomly came across this article and thought it was very interesting given the source.

https://www.inquirer.com/eagles/philadelphia-eagles-dallas-cowboys-dak-prescott-carson-wentz-20191017.html

FRISCO, Texas -- Leaders send messages. The Cowboys’ quarterback had a clear message for his teammates Thursday.

Work Harder.

Like Me.

.....

“I think it’s a mental thing. I think it’s some ways guys are preparing. Maybe they need to prepare a little bit more, here and there,” Prescott said.

This is the sort of leadership, pointed and steely, that championship football demands. When players hold each other accountable they thrive. It was so for the Eagles in 2017, and they’ve struggled to match that level of accountability since.

You’re seeing it from Prescott in Dallas now, a more distilled and potent version of the Prescott who, as a fourth-round rookie, took the franchise by its neck in 2016 and has since guided it to two NFC East titles.

Will you ever see it from Carson Wentz in Philadelphia? Because now might be a good time for a dose of it.

.....

" ‘How much does this mean to you?’ " Prescott said. “We’re 3-3, in a spot with a chance to play a big-time game, play a division rival, somebody we’re very familiar with, and we know they’re familiar with us. If you can’t bring your best for this game, and if you can’t prepare your best each and every day, something’s wrong with you.”

He sent the message to everyone -- even big-time teammates nursing themselves back to health

Amari Cooper’s locker is eight feet from Prescott’s. Cooper missed practice Wednesday and Thursday with a thigh injury that he aggravated in the first quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Jets. Immediately after Prescott’s high-decibel proclamation, Cooper announced that he expected to practice the next day.

Prescott noticed that offensive tackles Tryon Smith and La’el Collins, who missed Sunday’s game, participated in lineman drills Thursday, and Prescott made no secret whom he hopes to see protecting his flanks Sunday night:

“They looked good enough to me," he quipped

Guess what? If Dak loses on Sunday, all this rah-rah crap means nothing. If Wentz wins on Sunday, his teammates will suddenly think he's the greatest leader they've ever had.

Ws matter more than anything. All this stuff is tabloid BS if you can't execute on Sundays. They have Pederson, we have Garrett - they have the better true leader on their team. Doesn't matter how crappy Wentz is at it.

So now Ws are a QB stat. When people point out that Dak has a good won-loss record overall or that he is 3-1 in the last 4 games against the Eagles, his detractors say wins are a team stat, not a QB stat. How convenient.

The pot calling the kettle black.....Ok, Dak you great leader :facepalm:your soldier's fear and respect you.
Maybe you can lead them to 3 Field Goals on Sunday night.....

Poor Dak he's gonna find out real soon that Talent talks and BS walks.....

P.S. Worst-case scenario Dak you can always roll them under the bus like you did with the face mask comment directed at Dez....

That is good leadership...now the coaches have to direct that to come forward into games. Dominance is the goal, not haphazard in the making.

What are you talking about? I am talking about the team, in general, not having these little feuds if everything is going right. Nobody discusses "leadership" and "locker room problems" and "anonymous source said this about that player" when you're getting the Ws. It's a problem when teams hit a losing streak. This is almost always fueled by the media, negative and gossipy crap gets views and clicks. It's a soap opera at that point.

I've heard some of the supposed "leaders" in the past give grand speeches before a game just to get blown out. Remember when the veteran "leaders" pulled everyone into a meeting in 2010 before the Jags game....how did that one end? Again, it means little to nothing once kickoff happens. If you can't execute, no amount of "get up and fight!" will get you closer to the W.

The only issue I have with anything he said.... & probably all he was doing was complimenting his 2 offensive lineman. But honestly the lineman take multiple hits every play. They take 10 times the hits he does. If they are dinged up I really do not want them forcing the issue and because of that they get seriously hurt in the game.

All the other things he said he did a good job saying. The team does need to work harder. For the next 10 years they should all be eating & breathing and sleeping football. They have been given an opportunity that most of us will never get.

Not so fast...leadership grows under fire, but work is the center of all improvements not purely chance.

I'm sorry but if I was a teammate I'd be doing all that i can control, but hearing someone prop themselves up when I know they're nowhere near sliced bread that would strike a nerve real quick.

And if the players are slacking then 100% fire the coaches, ship those players, and find new coaches.

The bigger issue players have comfort zone created by Jerry and no amount of harsh statements from anyone else will impact them.

Yup. Not a leader. according to some here. He points out what our coach wont/cant. Enough with the country club. Get your butts in gear. Hey @AmariChill here is some leadership for you. Since guys dont respect him you know.

Like I've said before: I don't hate Dak, and I think he's a leader. I liked this quote here: "I definitely do it verbally. It’s something I’m always doing at practice. Pushing the tempo. Talking to guys." I just don't think he's properly respected, but here's lies the possible reason why--

Title of the article is "Dak calls out teammates", meaning he is throwing shots at his teammates.

“I always practice hard. More individuals need to do that,” Prescott said. “Just from the outlook of it, just from my eye, I think they do.”
“I think it’s a mental thing. I think it’s some ways guys are preparing. Maybe they need to prepare a little bit more, here and there,” Prescott said.

He's clearly calling someone out, we just don't know who. Also, the only people in the article that "respected" him are Jason Garrett and Jason Witten. I have yet to see the other 51 members of that roster say something about him. This article proves nothing.

Edit: Did you also see this part here? Where he says: "Work harder. Like me." Why would you add in the "Like me" part? How does he know if these people are trying their hardest rather it be barring injury or emotional problems? It kinda makes you look egotistical when you say something like that. Maybe the journalist wrote that in because that doesn't seem like a Dak-Like comment, but whatever.

Let me ask you guys something: Who would you rather have at QB, a prime Aaron Rodgers or Dak Prescott? If you choose Rodgers, go read up on what former players have had to say about Rodgers as a leader. "Self-centered" is a word that comes up often, he's in it for himself.

But who gives a freakin' crap? He's a great QB, he got the job done and got a ring. He can be as self-centered and cocky as he wants to be if he gets your team to the big dance.
