The only statistic that matters is SB trophies. If your hanging your hat on winning seasons, playoff wins, division wins, etc etc, you're a moral victory person. None of that matters.

I'm not dogging you Flamma, I'm agreeing...

Uhmm... Dallas has five.

20 plus years without even NFC championship game .... so no way to a SB.

Elite teams are in contention for NFC/ AFC championship and SB every year or every other year .. a la ... Pats, stealers, even Seahawks and Saints ...
chiefs, packers , ravens , panthers come in the second tier ...

Cowboys have been mediocre

Packers? Saints? Seahawks? Panthers? Chiefs? Ravens? I think you bumped your head.

No one wants to say it, because we're mostly long time fans, but who are we kidding?

The 21st century Dallas Cowboys have been a joke, and will be until proven otherwise. If we were fans of other teams we'd be laughing at Jerry and Stephen on a daily basis - they're the gifts that keep on giving when it comes to mindless bloviating about their team who wins nothing.

People laughed at old Al Davis, despite his dusty SB trophies, as the Raiders floundered until his death. But is what's going on in Dallas really all that different?

I'm sad to say I don't have much confidence in this franchise as long as Jerry and his kids are running the show. I hope they prove me wrong, but I no longer expect that will happen.

Yay...let's beat the Eagles and see what transpires, I guess.

this is EXACTLY what this MEDIOCRE team has done for the LAST 20 years.
The problem is many many fans here simply do not want to accept the TRUTH.
This is what this TEAM DOES ON A CYCLE:

1. win a couple of games with a good performace
2. loose unexptected games
3. enter a loosing steak and breaking panic loose
4. back to some wins getting hopes and hype up
5. ends up short or playoffs or championship
6. repeat
7.rise

Tell me that has not been our story?

Untill Garret is gone..and the jones ARE GONE.. nothing will TRULY change..

AM I MISTAKEN?

You don't get it. Fair weather fans aren't really Cowboys fans, they only claim to be when they are winning. When they're not they then show themselves for what they are.
.
I remember on the old Board you told me I would never be a real fan because I'm not from Texas. Said I shouldn't be allowed to even post. Glad to see you're still a dick that doesn't understand what a fan is.

The 80’s we went to 3 straight championship games. IMO that is something . My measurement isn’t just Super Bowls. Its playing for championships which we begin doing in 1966 and did in every decade until 21st Century.

The Salary Cap is a lame excuse. The rest of the league has to deal with it too.

The salary cap isn't lame when at the time it started the Cowboys had the highest payroll of any team in the league by a lot because Jones paid backups starting pay and the Cowboys had depth at EVERY position. Proof is when the cap started the Cowboys had to let those backups walk and they ended up as starters on other teams. The Cowboys instantly went into cap hell and remained there until last season. In the beginning they had to renegotiate multiple contracts just to keep their own starters and even then they had to let some walk. The problem with renegotiating contracts is it ALWAYS adds more dead money down the road and that vicious cycle continued until last season. But those that just want to whine about what the Cowboys haven't done and their hatred for who they perceive to be the problem don't get or think that there could be other reasons.

It took the Cowboys 25 years to figure out the salary cap? :muttley:

That speaks volumes about the Jones Family mismanagement, and the inability to play in any sort of a championship game in over 20 years.

You obviously have no idea of what it was like for the Cowboys when the cap started. The seasons leading up to the cap Jones and the Cowboys had the highest player payroll in the league. The Cowboys player payroll was just about twice as much as about 3/4 of the league. Jones paid his starters well and also paid the backups starter type money. The Cowboys were deep at every position. When the cap started the Cowboys had to let many/most of those backups walk or release them which put dead money on the cap. Most of those backups ended up as starters on other teams. Even at that Jones had to renegotiate multiple contracts to free up some cap, room just to resign his own starters. When teams renegotiate contracts what it does is ALWAYS adds dead money down the road and that vicious cycle had to be repeated over and over just to get some cap room each year. That cycle finally stopped and last season they only had to renegotiate 1 contract and this past off season they finally didn'y have to renegotiate any contracts. So yes it's taken a very long time for the Cowboys to dig out of that because of the team Jones built BEFORE there was a cap and then had to pay dearly for building that team.

:hammer:

I'd also add that they are pretty clueless when it comes to managing a team and winning under the cap

I understand it. Fair weather fans wouldn't even show up here until the Cowboys win something of substance. The ones that are complaining are here every week win or lose. They are disgruntled fans not fair weather fans. Fair weather fans wouldn't care until the Cowboys did something. So in other words they'd disappear and never come back.

I'll give you an example of fair weather fans. Back in the late 80's it was hard to find Cowboy fans outside Texas. I was ridiculed a lot. After the team started winning everyone jumped on the bandwagon. Those are fair weather fans.

That certainly is one type of fair weather fan. There are others, like those who come here on a regular basis that when the Cowboys win a game they don't post negative comments but if they lose then they get into attack mode start their negative comments. Those too are also Fair weather fans. They're fine after winning games and all negative after they lose. Back in 2017 I copied and pasted a bunch of those negative comments and sent them in an email to a friend in Nebraska who is actually a vikings fan and I told him I went on several different message boards and asked him if he could guess which boards I got them from. He said some had to have come from some eagles board and that some may have come from a skins board. I replied to him and told him that all of them came from this Cowboys board and he said unbelievable He said the Cowboys are supposed to have so many fans across the country and they post comments like that. He said you must have a lot of fair weather fans..

I think it's been clearly established the Cowboys have been better than the Browns.

NFC championship game appearances since the Cowboys last played in one (1995-96):

Packers (5)
Eagles (5)
Vikings (4)
Giants (3)
Saints (3)
Seahawks (3)
Panthers (3)

The Panthers didn't even exist the last time Dallas played in the NFCCG. Only two other teams - the Lions and Commanders - have gone longer without reaching the NFCCG.

But at least we're not the Browns. Thanks, Jerry.

You can add 49ers(4) to that list. It's early, but it looks like they may get there before we do again.

I'm calling you a bold face liar because I've never told anyone that you have to from Texas to be a Cowboys fan. The Cowboys have fans ALL OVER THE WORLD.
