News: Jerry: Cowboys will better utilize Bennett than Patriots

Quit putting other people's thoughts in my post. I never said he was a bad pickup. But when we was brought in they said he'll get his touches here and he wasn't being utilized correctly by the Rams.

So again stop putting other people's thoughts on my post.

How in the hell did you come up with that, putting others thoughts in your post.
You made comment and I responded.
whatever. Doesn't matter.

Because you responded to my post as if I'd said something bad about Austin, but I didn't. I like Austin and think he needs more touches.

So apparently you read my post and started thinking of others that frequently bad mouth Austin.

They didn't *talk* about Austin as a low cost utility player. "Web back! Web back! Woohoo! Watch out!" The stated plan was for significant touches.

And given his production when given the ball, he should get more snaps. Basic optimization in game theory for the fakes. If he gets 10 yards a handoff, and Zeke gets 5, more of those fakes to Austin should be handoffs to Austin until the yards per touch evens out, with Austin coming down and Zeke going up.

No, players that get the ball on "fakes" when the aren't fakes have a higher probability of losing yards. That's a big reason that there are drastically more fakes than actual touches for players running those plays.

Given the data, the probability of losing yards is very low. Currently, the average gain is 10 yards.

Austin has never lost yardage on a carry with us.

It won't show up in stats because coaches avoid doing it often enough to cause significant losses.

The average should be good because they don't do it often which means defenses don't put a big focus on stopping it.

I think in terms of pure ability, Bennett probably can be an upgrade for us. I think he probably will be a cancer longer term if he sticks around here. I would be reluctant to give him another contract. I will not be surprised when he becomes a distraction to the team or pisses Jerry off over the anthem or something like that.

He is under contract for 2020 and is current 33 years old. I don't think he'll get another contract.

It's the Cowboys option to cut or keep him in 2020. There is no cost in 2020 if they cut him before the season starts.

That's consistent with Garrett's ignorance on how to optimize returns in a two player game of limited information. It's still a mistake.

Agian. Great pickup. He can only help.

I don’t understand how some are unhappy about obtaining a vet for next to nothing that is self motivated, produces consistently, and can play multiple positions of need.
Because the people that don't like him quote non football related matters.

Bye week or not, the Cowboys are going to make some news and they did just that on Thursday when they sent a 2021 seventh-round draft pick to the Patriots in exchange for defensive end Michael Bennett.

Bennett lasted less than half a season in New England, but Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes Dallas will be the right fit for the pass rusher.

"The scheme that they had him working in up in New England had a lot to do with us being able to trade for him," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. "Probably didn't utilize what he can bring as much as we will be able to utilize it. ."

:lmao::lmao2:

“We’re going to utilize a player than the Pats” (who have six and prob soon to be seven rings as testament they are masters of utilizing talent)
Sorry but good one jerry. :lmao2:
We couldn’t figure out how to effectively utilize Tom Brady

Well now I feel so much better about this move sense it was so eloquently explained by our GM. And Our coaches have such a rich history of “utilizing” veterans as opposed to the Pats coaches.
Pat's play a 3-4 last I checked, so yeah, he should get to do more interesting things in a 4-3. LBs are the big play makers in a 3-4.

But you did make a comment about Austin, and I responded, and asked you a question what you thought about his TD.
But you are taking it differently.
Whatever though.

I'm not a fan of his at all but since he is here I hope he does well.

Wasn't he one of the guys who at one point said he would never play for Dallas?

....because New England Patriots don't know what they're doing.
lol

Michael really wanted to have his little brother in NE with him but he retired.

We should push to get get Martellus. Huge upgrade over Schultz. Lots of tread left at 32 with a full season off to rehab his shoulder.

That reunion needs to happen!
