Will failed trade light a fire?

I think Heath is already giving 100% of what he is capable of. I don't think anybody here on CZ questions that.

It's just that Jeff Heath at 100% is still a bottom 25% starting safety in the NFL.

This.

What's with this "we" boiled down burgoo?,,, Of self granted collective crap?,,, I ain't complaining & never have about fielding #38,,,

*Truth be told? Man Alive, Brother!
I never got fully on board & totally groovin' to that turf-toe #21 signing,,,back when that turtle unassed it's log& made a splash in the waters around here in fandom lando_O

I respect your love affair with 38. I don’t understand it but I can respect it.

Willing to part with a number one pick to get a safety should be a wake up call for our secondary, it should also be a wake up call for Richard. Jobs are on the line and they know it. The question is, how will they respond? Heath plays hard, I really don't think he can get any better. He is what he is, can Richard coach him up anymore or has he hit his ceiling.
Should have parted for a “first” (I.e., our first pick) for a safety last draft and we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

It may light a fire, but it won't change the schedule.

The Eagles have a very clear advantage going forward to win the division.

Not to be a total d**k but Heath at 110% is bottom 5-10% in the NFL. He’s CFL caliber.

Overall not too sad about the deal going bad as if things go south for us we just might be picking in the top ten and who knows lots of good QB prospects in the draft class.
I don't think they'll take a backup in the first or second round.

Has who hit their ceiling, Heath or Richard?

One assumption here is wrong, he did not build that Legion of Boom, that was Carroll and that same HC decided not to keep him when he was rebuilding his D, especially the secondary. If that doesn't raise more questions, I don't know what will. Richard's answer to that D debacle in LA, yell at LVE and Smith on the sideline.

That said, all any coach can do is max the talent, he cannot create or elevate talent. I think far too much emphasis here is placed on coach blame instead of looking closer at the execution. All a coach can do is put the player in the position, he cannot make the play for him.

Jobs aren't on the line and that's the problem. Every player on the Patriots knows that if they have a down game, they're gone. Easily replaceable. They don't pay their players ridiculous amounts because they know that at the end of the day, their players are replaceable. Dallas does not do this. Because of this, the players play however they want because they know there will be no consequences whatsoever based off of their actions. They know they will still get paid, too.

This team simply won't respond. We never do.
Jason Garrett has yet to make it to an NFC Championship despite having 2 sets of "triplets since being Head Coach in Dallas. How will the Dallas Front Office respond? They won't and they will keep him as HC.

This team (defensively and likely offensively) never scheme or gameplan for their opponents, which may be the reason why we lose so many (important) games in the first place. How do we respond? We don't. We keep doing what we are doing despite us failing.

Richard isn't going to coach anyone up and it's funny that you think that that's a possibility.

I think this trade deadline thing is overblown by bored fans looking for anything exciting during a bye week. Jerry went poking around the trade block looking for another Cooper type deal, so he inquires about Adams. The Jets want the sun and moon for him. Jerry tries to talk them down, they don't budge. Jerry does the smart thing and walks away.

Given the last-minute nature of when the talks started, I doubt that it was anything more than exploratory. If it was "we need a safety life-and-death badly", like it was last year with WRs, we would have started talks earlier and would have been talking to multiple teams about different safeties.
