Does Frank Gore make you nervous for Emmitt's record?

I remember Tomlinson talking about catching Emmitt. Then came the wall.
I remember Peterson laying out his plan to catch Emmitt. Then came the knee and then switchgate.

Much like how it's now a QB driven league, Emmitt's record will stand for a really, really long time.

Gore is extremely underrated. He has lead the team in rushing everywhere he’s played, and he’s on pace for 1,000 yards this season. Imagine what he would have been without that horrendous injury at the end of his college career.

Sanders is the last person Gore will pass on the all time list. I doubt he plays next year at 37, and if he does, he will be a backup. Gore will finish 3rd all time and Peterson will finish 5th all time.

Who does he even play for? 2800 is still a big #. Won't happen.

He's on pace for 1000 yard season and is averaging 4.4 per rush (not bad for a 36 year old guy), as long as he gets there with that number and wants to keep playing somebody will keep signing him to a 1 year deal for the 2m he is playing for this season. He won't break Emmitts record but he may make a run at it, heck after he passes Sanders he may hold on to 2nd place for just as long as Emmitts holds on the 1st.

Wow, never ever thought that I would see someone not rank Emmitt in the top 10- all time. That's pretty comical right there.

He is 100 yards away from Barry Sanders and will be probably around 2800 from Emmitt by years end.

Surprising he still gets carries but he is still chugging away. I would think he would get replaced pretty soon!

Just the idea of Frank Gore being the all time leading rusher would make me want to vomit.

Basically a journey men.

That journeyman has had a 1700 yard rushing season and 9 1000 yards seasons total with maybe another this season and a career 4.4 yards per carry average along with catching 462 passes (with an 8.3 YPC). Emmitt had 11 1000 yard rushing seasons caught 515 balls (With a 6.3 YPC) and had a career 4.2 yards per carry average. If Frank Gore is a journeyman playing behind way worse lines than Emmitt ever did. What does that make Emmitt. I never understand Cowboys fans who knock another player with the kind of career Gore had. He is no journeyman and will easily go into the HOF

Nah, someone will eventually break Emmitt's record, but that won't take anything away from what he accomplished just like Emmitt's breaking the record didn't take anything away from Walter Payton. I still have mad respect for Payton and always will, and so should any football fan, whether a Bears fan or not.

And Payton passed Brown, who remains the greatest RB of all time in the eyes of many who saw him play. Emmitt will be passed someday and still remain the greatest in the eyes of many who saw him play.

Yep! Even guys like Nolan Ryan, who one could argue was probably the ultimate compiler, held several records and amazing feats (single season strikeout record, 7 no-hitters, hardest thrower ever up to that point). Gore finished in the top 5 in rushing once and had 10 TDs once. Was not a highlight guy by any means either. Never won anything of note (not that that’s just on him).
Gore may very well go down as the most boring HOFer ever.

Gore is 36 years old.

He must be on everything from HGH to who knows what.

Whatever it is, I need some...

no, I don't think Emmitt's record will be touched. Not the way RBs are used now, and what seems to be an even shorter shelf life for them.

I do have tremendous respect for Frank Gore and the career he has had though.

Curtis Martin.
A pretty good candidate as well, and also a guy who largely made the HOF by his rushing total. In his defense though, he did outright win one rushing title and finished in the top 5 3 other times. He also was a first team All-Pro once (at age 31!) and won Rookie of the Year honors.

The only thing weak is your logic, they aren’t similar at all. Gore was never even considered a top 5 back in the league for even a single year. You can’t just hand wave four rushing titles and an MVP away like they’re Pro Bowl appearances. For a running back, that’s rarified air. Try again.
Nope. Rushing titles don't always mean you were the best of all time.

I amazed Gore made it this far. Quietly I might add. But 2800 yards is two seasons for an exceptional back, a minimum of 3-4 for him. Will he play 3-4 more?

Don't think so.
1. It's a passing league now
2. Running back careers are getting shorter as teams are keener on analytics

Gore would need 2-3, maybe 4 more years. Not gonna happen.
