America's Team. We always get everyone's best game

I am not so sure. I think this is a myth that Cowboy fans believe. I grew up in the SF Bay Area as a Cowboys fan, and although the 49ers and Cowboys had a great rivalry in the 80s and 90s, the 49ers and their fans got much more amped when the played the LA Rams.
That was their rival. But make no mistake about it 49ers Cowboys football is better than sex

You're right, John facenda is who I was trying to think of when I said Steve sabol.......in any event it was not started by the cowboys organization that so many want to believe...........and I certainly don't blame them for taking advantage of the opportunity to capitalize on it.
I thought it was Dandy Don Meredith on the Monday night. Announcement where he gave us that name. Am I mistaken about that?

do you really believe that teams that play Dallas say to themselves, "we have to really bring our best this week because this is "Americas team". Most of the kids playing today probably dont even know that moniker from the 70s still exists and if they do probably just roll their eyes when someone brings it up. If you poll the players they would probably say New England is Americas team because they are in the Super Bowl every year. Teams have up and downs through the season. Teams get up for a game for different reasons and when teams play Dallas, the "Americas Team" reason is so far down the list you probably wont find it.
Not true at all. Teams bring their A game for Dallas. It's usually a late or prime time game and they want to shine because they know everybody is watching when they play Dallas. The Cowboys have higher ratings than the Patriots and everybody else, thus the America's Team nickname. It applies and teams stick their chests out a little further if they beat Dallas.

Maybe not a troll reach. Maybe just the words of someone who worries too much about the opinions of others, and sees things that aren't there.
Maybe. I definitely don't think we're a laughing stock. That's just ridiculous.

No, the Steelers have no desire to be called America's Team.
What do they have a desire or not is not the point. They don't like us being America's team make no mistake about that

Cowboys sell out stadiums constantly. People don't get it or they don't want to get it

That line has been around since the 20th century. It's become an excuse for underachieving in the 21st century.
I don't use it for an excuse. I don't have an agenda. I think it's an actual fact that everybody gets up for the Cowboys. There's no excuse for losing. Well yeah you can blame the coaching LOL

That's an opinion. You have no way of knowing that's factual. It's also irrelevant to the Cowboys success, or lack of it.

I've seen "we get everybody's best game" often here after losses. It's an excuse by anyone who uses it.

If you want to give fair credit to who's responsible for "America's Team" becoming a thing, credit Doug Todd, the Cowboys PR director. Bob Ryan came up with it, but only after Todd rejected his original titles.

Originally, Ryan titled the highlight reel "Champions Die Hard". Todd rejected that. Then Ryan came back with "Next Year's Champions" and "America's Team". Todd selected AT.

this schedule as a fan has been rough..no football 2 Sundays following a Sunday night game and now a Monday night game.. its horribly chaotic..and then the 3 games in 11 days with Thanksgiving coming..

I havent been this unsettled in some time.. theres no flow to the season with scheduling, I wonder if that effects the players..
we better not lose this game...there are the big ones coming after..cant afford another loss to a team we should beat..

if theres one positive about the Jets loss , it reminded the players and coaches that any team can beat them if they dont come focused and prepared..
Overconfident the first 3 games lead to a lack of focus and brought the fear in 3 game losing streak that hopefully righted the ship after the eagles blowout and now holding on to slim lead for the division..

Im betting that first 7 was full of learning lessons the revisited over the BYE..

If they start slow and have issues with this NY team as well, even if we hang on for a in it will not sit well with me.. I want to see another Eagles game type start and Energy..

Not sure who told you that story, but "Next Year's Champions" was used before the Cowboys first SB victory in 1971. It wasn't used after that because they finally were champions.

"America's Team" was first used in 1978 by NFL Films.

(read in John Facenda's voice)

The Cowboys are the Notre Dame of professional football.

No matter where they play, their fans are there to greet them.

Their faces are recognized by fans all across this country.

The sum total of their stars are a galaxy.

They are the Dallas Cowboys….America’s Team.

That was from memory, not sure what the other title was . But I know the original title for the 1978 highlight reel was "Champions Die Hard" before the Cowboys rejected it.

This is such a crap mentality and thought. All in all we haven't been relevant in 25 years. The Pats have been killing it for how many years now? You dont think they get everyone's best every week?

Perhaps Dallas’s JV schemes allow teams to look their best? I believe that is the issue. This organization has no panache around the league.

Dallas’ main flaw is predictable scheme. The fact remains, however, that the majority of teams the Cowboys play usually bring their “A” game.

They bring their "A" game against every team. The difference is Dallas has a coaching staff that doesn't make adjustments at halftime so they don't have to go to Plan B.
