The NFL went to a 16 game format in 1978.I think we play a few more games per year now, don't we?

(Pssst, c'mere. Bruce Willis was already dead in "The Sixth Sense" and Kevin Spacey was Keyser Soze)I rarely will watch a game twice, but even on the rare occasion I do that’s different because it’s just one week and that one week doesn’t tell the story of the full season. I want the season to unfold, like a story. What fun would it have been if we knew in advance who shot JR?
I see, so the word "bust" is just a synonym for "failure"? ......"SB or failure" does seem less motivational.Has to do with how some measure success and if you are not the last team syanding, you failed. I think that's one of the reasons some feel the need to make excuses for losing like the refs. One of the hardest thing for some fans to admit is that the other team is actually just better. We have posters here convinced that with another coach this is the SB team.
This is "my kid's the cutest/smartest" syndrome. If it belongs to me, it is the best.
From 14, I think. So 2 more games per year = 60 more games played in that time, if that changes your thinking at all @blueblood70 .The NFL went to a 16 game format in 1978.
No, I really just don't understand the phrase when applying it to football. What exactly does "bust" mean in this regard?
Goes back to that Lombardi quote. "Winning isn't everything; it is the only thing".I see, so the word "bust" is just a synonym for "failure"? ......"SB or failure" does seem less motivational.![]()
Oh no, sorry, I'm not arguing with your sentiment. I'm on a tangent about why they use the phrase "SB or bust". lolAre we just talking semantics now? My point was, go big or go home.
they still have to win them, we could use that for losses as well, wins are wins regardless which year.. its all relative.. does that change your thinking? it adds nothing to my point.. Jerry has nearly the same amount of wins in the same given period of years..From 14, I think. So 2 more games per year = 60 more games played in that time, if that changes your thinking at all @blueblood70 .
that we could LOSE, correct? lol doesnt fit the narrative huh? it was just facts I looked up, its interesting..I think we play a few more games per year now, don't we?
um we took over a horrible team went 1-15 3-13 etc etc..come on now you are reaching here..all teams have highs and lowsThe difference is Landry's first 5 years were awful as he was given an expansion team. I wonder what the record between the 2 is the next 24 years? 1965-1988; 1994-present.

He also has more losses in that same time frame. That's the point I was making. I wasn't attacking your position, BTW. You seem to have reacted as though I was.they still have to win them, we could use that for losses as well, wins are wins regardless which year.. its all relative.. does that change your thinking? it adds nothing to my point.. No I'd rather make it, but that said the difference between making it (and losing in round 1) vs just missing (and only meaning a spot or two in the draft order) is very minor, to me. It's a question I am giving an answer to here (I would rather make it) yet it barely matters.Something happens to some fans with a team with repetitive behavior and some are purely results driven for the season, it is all about the destination, the journey is inconsequential. And there is no good or bad to it, it's just how you view the season.
If the Cowboys were to make the playoffs, and right now it looks like winning the division is the only way they would, and they were to lose out in that first round, would you rather they didn't make it at all?
Would the disappointment and frustration of that be to the point you'd rather just have the season end after 16 games?
Those are your only two choices, none of that "anything can happen in the playoffs", the choice is simple. End the season after 16 or end it after 17 games?
But who the hell killed JR?(Pssst, c'mere. Bruce Willis was already dead in "The Sixth Sense" and Kevin Spacey was Keyser Soze)
Back then Jerry had to have a winning team to make money. Now he can put a mediocre team out there and make all the money he wants, year after year.Yes. Jerry demanded excellence those first 5 years well actually Jimmy but Jerry was smart enough to stay out of the way.. Not so much now. It's a different era.
And stay large and in charge.Back then Jerry had to have a winning team to make money. Now he can put a mediocre team out there and make all the money he wants, year after year.
Dr. Bellows? But who the hell killed JR?
Now I know why everyone was so shocked! Who could have seen that coming?Dr. Bellows?
