Playoffs, none if one and done?

I rarely will watch a game twice, but even on the rare occasion I do that’s different because it’s just one week and that one week doesn’t tell the story of the full season. I want the season to unfold, like a story. What fun would it have been if we knew in advance who shot JR?
(Pssst, c'mere. Bruce Willis was already dead in "The Sixth Sense" and Kevin Spacey was Keyser Soze)

Has to do with how some measure success and if you are not the last team syanding, you failed. I think that's one of the reasons some feel the need to make excuses for losing like the refs. One of the hardest thing for some fans to admit is that the other team is actually just better. We have posters here convinced that with another coach this is the SB team.

This is "my kid's the cutest/smartest" syndrome. If it belongs to me, it is the best.
I see, so the word "bust" is just a synonym for "failure"? ......"SB or failure" does seem less motivational.

Goes back to that Lombardi quote. "Winning isn't everything; it is the only thing".

Some people have the need to be associated with a winner and just being a fan and continuing to be one when they're a loser doesn't fit. I know people that left the Cowboys because they were no longer a big dog in the yard.

I only demand one thing of any team I pull for, leave nothing in the locker room take it all to the field. They cannot help it if they're overmatched or under coached but they can control their effort. I didn't stop being a fan when they quit on Phillips but I didn't watch them, they didn't deserve my time.

From 14, I think. So 2 more games per year = 60 more games played in that time, if that changes your thinking at all @blueblood70 .
they still have to win them, we could use that for losses as well, wins are wins regardless which year.. its all relative.. does that change your thinking? it adds nothing to my point.. Jerry has nearly the same amount of wins in the same given period of years..

The difference is Landry's first 5 years were awful as he was given an expansion team. I wonder what the record between the 2 is the next 24 years? 1965-1988; 1994-present.
um we took over a horrible team went 1-15 3-13 etc etc..come on now you are reaching here..all teams have highs and lows

He also has more losses in that same time frame. That's the point I was making. I wasn't attacking your position, BTW. You seem to have reacted as though I was.

BUT point of the thread ONE MORE SB WIN..if wining a SB is all that matters over the same time period SB or bust theory, Jerry has MORE.. get it..as bad as it always seems , its not..

Jerry and company has never lost a SB..hows that 3-3 … :))

Something happens to some fans with a team with repetitive behavior and some are purely results driven for the season, it is all about the destination, the journey is inconsequential. And there is no good or bad to it, it's just how you view the season.

If the Cowboys were to make the playoffs, and right now it looks like winning the division is the only way they would, and they were to lose out in that first round, would you rather they didn't make it at all?

Would the disappointment and frustration of that be to the point you'd rather just have the season end after 16 games?

Those are your only two choices, none of that "anything can happen in the playoffs", the choice is simple. End the season after 16 or end it after 17 games?
No I'd rather make it, but that said the difference between making it (and losing in round 1) vs just missing (and only meaning a spot or two in the draft order) is very minor, to me. It's a question I am giving an answer to here (I would rather make it) yet it barely matters.
