It's funny........ the Garrett defenders love to make sure we all listen to Jerry when he says this stuff, but magically, when Jerry is saying things like this team needs to be better than it has been or is critical of the coaching, suddenly that's just Jerry being Jerry.

The reality is the fact this guy is all over the map when talking about the coaches should tell you his patience is wearing thin.

It’s not just talk. I know most of you want to believe it is, but it’s not.

We went through this all five years ago with Garrett’s last lame-duck season. Right before the 5 year extension.

It doesn’t mean Jerry won’t try to upgrade if a guy is available. But he really does like the guy he’s got. For a lot of pretty good reasons, too.

Hmmm, I wonder what those reasons are? smh

Jerry has never done that with Jason Garrett before. They have a working understanding. One contract at a time.

But that has nothing to do with your premise of "honoring a contract". There's no dishonor in extending a coach before his contract is up if you believe he's a legitimately good head coach.

It's simple. Jerry let Garrett coach on his lame duck year in 2014 because up until that point, Garrett had done nothing. Cowboys go 12-4, Jerry extends him because he viewed it as a turning point. You think Jerry is going to believe this franchise has turned a corner if they don't make the playoffs with a team he himself claimed was a SB team?

There's a reason why Garrett has coached in lame duck years. Jerry wanted more evidence that a contract extension was worth it.

If these were Jerry's real thoughts, he would have extended him way ago. Clearly this is not happening during the season, so he just said what he needed to say. After the season, Garrett will be done in football for good. I don't really see any team chasing for a clapper and butt slapper on the sideline.

Believe what you want to, guy. But observe how Jason Garrett gets a new contract days after this season is concluded. I'm not here to argue with ignorance, I'm here to tell you people what's happening. You can believe me now or believe later when it happens. It makes no difference to me.

You have been wrong for something in the past I’m sure and you better be wrong this time too!

Jerry is just resistant to getting rid of Garrett because he knows if Garrett goes to another team and pulls a Sean Payton, all fingers will be pointed at him as the true problem. Payton's team may have only one SB (should have at least been there last year) but it's usually in the hunt.

Just to be clear, I DO NOT think Payton would have done here what he's been able to do in NOrleans. Hell, I don't even know NO's owners name...

I was wrong about something but it was political so I can't go into it here. I'm sorry if you don't approve of Garrett getting that extension.

It's happened once in his entire tenure. He coached a lame duck season, went 12-4 and got an extension.

I am not sure why you think it means more than it does. If Garrett had gone 7-9 in 2014, would he have been given an extension? Nope.

It would actually be funny to me if Jerry extends Garrett in-season. I would enjoy all the liars who would say they are done with the team, won’t post anymore, and will find a new team, only to complain every week anyway. That’s the kind of entertainment money can’t buy.

Again, Jerry can say whatever he wants.

The fact he hasn't lifted a finger to extend this "heck of a coach", this coach that many teams would be killing themselves to have, is all you need to know about what Jerry really thinks of Garrett.
He seems to be doing an awful lot of talking Garrett up as well.
