They've got the early game and by the time this game kicks off, they'll know the results and whether this game is for the lead or to stay tied for it.

I firmly believe this team needs pressure to perform at it's best and they're probably assuming the Eagles have the easier schedule from here on out, just as we are.

So, which is the stronger motivation, as if one were needed facing the Patriots at home with a 20 game win streak. The chance to move into first or not to fall a game back?

Motivations are funny little things, as I've discovered, but the fear of loss (pain) trumps the desire to win (gain) when the chips are really down. When that extra effort is required, when it's all on the line, I think the fear of falling behind the Eagles is the stronger motivator and if they should beat the Seahawks, I would be all over that if I were a coach. I believe they will fight harder to stay even than to get ahead.

for a FAN makes sense we believe having a foe in our rearview will be better..however NO as a player, team, owner and in reality you want your closest competitor to lose.. so no way im rooting for the eagles..I cant its not in my DNA..

Now if a philly win could somehow hep our actual situation against a team we need to lose, I could find it in me to root for them

but this weekend, NO WAY NO HOW!!!,

Go Hawks!!!

here's the problem with you little idea. Even if the eagles win and the Cowboys lose, the Cowboys still have a virtual 1 game lead because at this time the Cowboys own the head to head tie breaker.

While I agree with the premise, if the team needs extra motivation to play well in NE then they truly don't care and Jason Garrett sucks even more than I initially thought.
All I have to go on is how the team plays with him as HC and they're at their best with their backs against the wall. It is as if they need something extra to push their buttons.

The one error in thinking I believe some have is that "they play hard for Garrett", that's been the one thing most will give him. I disagree, they play hard for each other and they're not the first team to do that, many have had that same tendency.

The one place that fails them is in the playoffs, the must win game. They see making the playoffs as a job well done, they're not fighting to avoid pain as much as not fighting hard enough for gain. In order to do that, they have to see themselves as champions first.

On an Eagles note: The Eagles rookie OT that has filled in at LT for Peters, now expected to make his first start at RT against the Seahawks because Lane Johnson is in concussion protocol.

He will be blocking Clowney. Can't wait to watch that.

Can't pull for the Eagles..they're 5-5, if they lose Sunday 5-6. There next two opponents are MIA and NYG before they play the Cowboys. The Cowboys next two after NE are The Bills, and at CHI in December before they play Philly. It literally makes no sense to pull for Philly this weekend.

I could never pull for the Eagles. Ever!!!

We just have to take care of our own business.

I am not talking about motivation for the season or the division, I am talking about this one game in the toughest venue in the league in less than ideal conditions.

And this is assuming a PHL victory is more motivating. What would a win in the toughest venue in the league in less than ideal conditions mean to the psyche of this team going forward? Think they're not going to think different about themselves?
