The third episode of Off Top is here... I’ve had it with you 6-0 truthers!

I didn't watch the video, but I *hate* it when someone argues 6-0 is better than 6-6 in the NBA finals. I'm a huge Jordan fan, but that argument assumes that every season that doesn't end in a finals victory is the same...i.e, if you're not first, you're last. And that is just dumb in my opinion.

That’s my biggest gripe with the argument. My overall point in the video is “winning three playoff series is better than winning anything less than that. Getting to the Finals is better than losing before them.”

Yes, in essence Jordan played 16 seasons so he was 6-10, 6 wins championships and 10 losses. If another player was 6-10, but half of their 10 were also in the finals, then obviously that player had more team success than Jordan.

Different eras

Argue away. It's irrelevant and nothing can be proven

If Jordan would have been in the era where players hop around from year to year forming super teams, he would have been in the finals more often than not.

Comparing Lebron to Jordan’s series records is laughable.

Lebron has won very little without a super team joining him or himself joining a super team.

Exhibit A: look how he faired last year without a team of super players.

Note: And no, Jordan having Pippen doesn’t count as a super team. Pippen while average to a little above average, was no where near a superstar player.

Now let’s name the number of years Lebron won a title without a bonafide superstar player....

Jordan has 6 years where he did it. He was the only true superstar on his team. If anything, he markedly elevated/inflated the players around him.

For me it has more to do with how finals losses or Super Bowl losses are perceived.

This is a statement I can completely agree with.

I would rather lose the superbowl every year than to never play in it at all. Getting there is certainly an accomplishment.

Agree on most of this except the Pippen comments. He was not a superstar like some think but he certainly was WAY better than average or slightly above average.

But again, not really worth arguing this stuff.

Jordan and LeBron were/are both great. The rest is hypothetical.

are we really gonna say Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love constitute a Super Team? Dwayne Wade yea, he was an all time great, but Chris Bosh? Barely an all star to be honest

Again the question is more about how success is defined. Is a player better for having to been to 10 NBA finals but only won 5 or having been to only 5 but won all 5.
