For those that believe Jerry does want to lose credit for any success we have, hiring Meyer could be mutually beneficial

Meyer is known for moving around. He has had health problems, and coaching in a place long term is unlikely. Where a Dallas job would be attractive to him is that he is getting a team with a playoff caliber roster. There is not a rebuild situation. This is a situation where the FO is looking for someone to maximize the roster.

On flip side, the Jones are still able to take credit for assembling the roster. If Meyer is able to come here and win, it would be mostly with players that he inherited.

This is a great point, and an excellent pull factor from Meyer's perspective.

It also gives the Jones's a 3-4 year window with which they can find and groom the second coming they thought Garrett would be. Not that they'll ever find that person, but that will absolutely be logic/spin the Jones's will use

We can have few years (successfully hopefully) with Meyer until Riley gets more experience on this head coaching gig and be ready to step in

Hopefully if we go with Meyer he can produce a good tree. After a decade of Garrett, we dont even know what that looks like anymore

I can buy into that. On top of health problems he's also very protective of time with his family (ever since leaving UF) so an NFL gig may be appealing in comparison to college where he would have to be on the road recruiting constantly on top of coaching. And if he goes to a program in need of rehabilitation (cough cough USC) then recruiting will be essential to his success. He also seems to buy into job prestige so the Cowboys could interest him from that regard as well.

No relevant HC with his career ahead of him will coach this team with JJ in the mix. Maybe if they done with coaching and want to collect a check. This is the theme so far, rob JJ blind.

Urban Meyer talked very glowing about the Cowboys head coaching position. Referring to it as "the one"

In regards to the USC job, Cowherd had some takes on why that might not be that great a job right now.

Give me a minutes and Ill find the link

Unless an attractive college job opens up for Petersen elsewhere, bringing him here actually makes sense. Offense isn't our problem, and he'd inherit Moore and his scheme.

As long as Petersen can make in-game adjustments better than Garrett and bring in a competent defensive coordinator, I say why not?

Urban Meyer as a NFL HC is pretty much pass advancement. He is pass his pinnacle and has already written his legacy. This is nothing more than creme to him. Can he be the choosen one and bring one to Dallas? If Jerruah is in the mix then no. We can have Belichick and Lombardi coaching this team and we will still under perform.

Urban Meyer is actually head coaching material and has proven that. He is on another level than the puppet I think we all know that. Look at Pete Carroll, he was fantastic building up USC, but Urban has beaten Saban with three different teams. I think you guys ought to be on board with Urban, and I certainly hope Jerry lures him in.
