Back in the day, you didn't need to know the record of the team to know where they were in the standings, just look at the passing yards.

The top 4 passers, in yards, in the NFL are DAL 6-6, TB 5-7, LAC 4-8 and LAR 7-5. That's an impressive 22-26. 1 team with a winning record.

In case you're interested, the top 4 run teams are BAL 10-2, SF 10-2, SEA 10-2 and IND 6-6. 36-12.

More stats:

Offensive yards per drive - Dallas is 2nd (BAL is first)
Offensive points per drive - Dallas is 4th (BAL, KC, MIN)

Interceptions by the defense - Dallas is dead last
Net punting - Dallas is dead last
Average starting field position for their offense - Dallas is dead last

The Cowboys have to drive further than any other team in the NFL in order to score, yet see the offensive numbers in spite of it. This team is killing itself with poor special teams and the inability to intercept the other team's passer.

but last year everyone complained we run too much and we should be passing passing passing. hmmmm

They were right.

We are passing more and have improved in damn every meaningful offensive statistical category, and elite in some too.

If you didn't want to pass more it seems like you were wrong. Hmmm

2016 time of possesion; 3rd in the league

2019 time of posession 19th in the league

Every year since 2016 averaging lower and lower and our Win to Losses getting worse. Maybe there is something to having a dominating rushing game

Wins to loses may be a meaningful category too

These stats are over the last 5yrs but they could be useful here.

Jesus H Christ!

I wanted to pass more because I believed it would lead to more points being scored. I put the number at 30 ppg. Achieveing this number would make this team hard to beat and favorites, not just contenders.

But the offense has been inconsistent. Putting up points against lesser competition and sometimes not showing up against other contenders. If the offense scores at 30 ppg against the remaining contending teams that are left on the schedule, Dallas could still attain the goals that most had at the start of the year.

So when we were 2nd in 2018 offensive TOP per drive and 6th in 2017 in offensive TOP per drive were we lighting the world on fire or were we 9-7 and 10-6? Also you said our TOP went lower and lower while our record did too, yet we improved to 10-6 from 9-7.

My next post had W-L included in something that actually matters. Total rushing yards is going to be skewed towards winning teams because..... SURPRISE they're winning and so they will rely on run and churning clock after taking the lead.

How about the inflated offensive stats that have people thinking we are a top offense.
34.3 ppg in wins vs 6 teams with a record of 16-43-1
17.3 ppg in losses vs 6 teams above .500.
A lot of empty yards in games like GB, NYJ and Minny, after getting down by a wide margin.
Don't build Moore and Kitna a statue just yet, just a slightly above average offense.

Special teams and lack of turnovers are major problems for this team. Offensive red zone, FGs, time management, penalties, defensive 3rd downs, run defense. Lord, I need a drink.

Baltimore is a passing team. The other 3 offenses are terrible.

I get dogpiled here regularly for pointing out the meaningless of stats.

They mean almost less than than nothing.

And passing yards can be skewed cause teams are behind needing to catch up.

TOP per drive isn’t as important as TOP per game with our defense.

The more we control the clock and leave our defense on the sidelines assuming we can finish drives with TD’s we improve this teams change of winning.

Indy also fell off a cliff when Marlon Mack went down. Id guess they'd have another won or two if he was healthy and pounding the ball.

They weren't scoring before he went out either, because they can't throw the ball with any consistency

Yes, that's the other side of the coin.

No, we aren't going over this again, offensive TOP per drive is the smart way of telling the offenses ability to keep the defense off the field, total TOP for both offense and defense tells you absolutely nothing. But you've already been told this so no reason to rehash that topic.
