Garrett hasnt done a bad job though. I understand he has shortcomings, but he tries really hard. I can tell. Plus my son likes him alot and hes only coach hes ever known.

To me, Dak is soft. I think its partially JGs fault for not reinging him in, but I blame Daks need to be famous.
2 Wildcard wins, 10 years

I don’t give a dam how hard he tries, the NFL is a results oriented business and Garrett has failed miserably. This is not some after school league where everybody gets participation trophies and ice cream and it doesn’t matter if you win or lose as long as you “tried really hard”

You seriously believe we have someone currently on the staff who is capable of turning this thing around overnight? Who? Why?
Getting rid of Garrett would be like cutting out cancer and also be making a statement that mediocrity is unacceptable. This team couldnt possibly be any worse without Garrett. He never has them prepared and then he has the nerve to stand on the sidelines masquerading as a head coach. This team has been getting by on talent alone floundering without leadership and direction.

I prefer they keep Garrett until the end of the season and then start the new year with a fresh slate and no interference from an interim appointment. I want a new HC to come in and be given complete control over who stays and goes from the existing the coaching staff.

Then what better way to showcase the Cowboys then by having an interim coach? Surely by dumping Garrett it announces to the world that the head coaching spot is available. That way a qualified head coach can see for himself which asst. coach stays or needs to go.

Keeping Garrett around does not do the team any good. It sows uncertainty and lessen our chances of landing a good, quality coach.

There is nothing the team can do now to either attract or chase away a potential coaching candidate. You can't start any interviews until the season ends since most potential coordinators and position coaching are working. Don't want to see an interim coach from the staff, I prefer a potential full purge starting with a new HC who picks all of his staff.

If Jason Garrett wins SB this year what would your opinion be of him then? Lets just pretend it happens even if extremely unlikely. Resign or ligtning in a bottle and still get rid of him?

Garrett has been here a decade, Dak hasn’t.

Are you new to Cowboys football?
38 years. No, I am not "new". Having different opinions isnt a reason to shade my fandom.

I just think Garrett is a good coach who is handicapped by JJ. Is that not a possibility?

4 games left. Bears, Rams, Eagles, Skins. We honestly could lose all of them. I know it's the NFL but after 9 years of one head coach I shouldn't feel this way.

On an interim basis, Richard or kitna.
Neither are qualified. I'm not defending JG; a change needs to happen. But with the teams best interest in mind, no one on our current staff would do any better.

He's horrible managing the clock and game situations. Preparing the team for difficult situations is ALL on Garrett.

My issue is once the decision has been made its time to move on.

And my argument is predicated on the notion I believe Garrett is gone. So, why keep a Lame Duck HC??

It’s always about Jerry cause he puts us in these situations. His ridiculous public bumblings after Patriot game created this toxic atmosphere .

I believe its best for Cowboys Football down the stretch. And I don’t believe a Lame Duck HC is this environment reeks success.
I agree with you completely. I just find it humorous for some reason.

Jason is a Lame Duck HC now. He’s gone regardless how we finish. Everyone knows it. I don’t believe he’d want to stay or be welcome if we made it to the Super Bowl.

We still have a chance to finish strong and possibly make some noise in the playoffs.

Jerry is making this decision because it’s easier on him to leave Garrett in place because he doesn't really want another HC but the atmosphere is too toxic now for success with Garrett.

We might still back-in to the playoffs cause Egirls are even a bigger mess than we are. But with current environment it’s not conducive for success here.

After Thursday night it’s still not too late. We’ll have 10 days to adjust and hopefully provide a spark or we’ll otherwise possibly lose out. Which again will make the decision easier on Jerry.

Jerry, have some balls and do us all and Jason a favor. Once you know someone’s time is up it serves no one to leave him in place.
Ridiculous....”after the super bowl”....if we made the super bowl, he would absolutely be back, no question, and he’d be thrilled.

it would be stupid to fire a coach in season while in first place or even in the playoff hunt. No one does that, and neither will Jerry. If the season continues down the toilet, Jerry simply starts looking for a new coach and tells Jason, Thanks, but we are moving in another direction. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by firing him now.
