If the Cowboys didn't have other pressing needs I would consider drafting him. But the Cowboys have so many other needs, or will once their free agents start signing with other teams. My guess is Dallas will draft defense. There are several DTs that could make an impact in their rookie season. There are a couple of really good safeties too. If the Cowboys are drafting at 10 or earlier (which is a possibility still), they could trade down, get a safety and another 2nd or 3rd round pick. But picks 1 and 2 have to be DT and Safety, with the DT being selected first.

The Cowboys have Covington, Collins, Woods, Hyder, Bennett, and Daniel Ross all becoming Free Agents in 2020. Quinn is a FA too. They are going to need DL help from somewhere.

In the 2nd round they have to address the safety problem. But they could need to go CB too. Jones and Brown are both free agents. I think Jones is gone. Brown, because of his injury may resign for a 1 year deal hoping to stay healthy and then go FA again in 2021. But if both sign somewhere else the Cowboys will be short CBs.

And what if Cooper leaves? I like Gallup but I do not think he is a #1 receiver yet, and he may never be. Cobb is also a free agent. We already know the WRs are not good enough based on how they played before the acquisition of Cooper.

I get why Jerry took his time signing Dak, but I think he needs to get that over with so he knows what he has left to fill his roster. Dak does not deserve $40 million if he sticks to that demand then maybe QB is the first pick and we go from there.

I doubt we'd trade down, being that we could use so many other positions.

I definitely wouldn't take Tua if someone like Delpit is sitting there. I'd imagine CZ, and Cowboys Nation as a whole, would burn everything to the ground.

We're not just one piece away from #6, especially not a QB.

I don’t have a problem with that but you know what the speculation would be if they do tag him.. Lol. Dak isn’t being signed and we are looking for new QB. They will work this out. Would rather seem sign him and get it over and work on other contracts. Cooper is the one I wonder about. He is injured all year.

Do we draft him? I would assume we are going to tag Dak anyway so we won't have a longterm commitment to Dak and we can let Tua sit and heal-up. This would get us another great QB on a rookie deal to try and get another 5-year cap-friendly window?

We could then move on from Dak and let another team pay him the big big bucks.

I like Dak, Elliott and Cooper, but if we're gonna draft a QB in the first, we need to trade Dak to get some value, hopefully trade Cooper (do teams get 2 tags this year?) and deal Elliott so we can start over properly. None of this half way bull ****.

Been asking for that for years, but nooooooooooooo, we take injured, mentally challenged and project players early.

This team is not, and has never been, in the mode of the 1976 or 1991 or 1995 Cowboys teams, that were essentially ONE player away from greatness. This team has multiple needs, even drafting a superstar, guaranteed All Pro starter in his first year player (we had that with Martin, how did that work out?), at one per year long before your top draft picks add up to a great team, you'll lose too many other good players, to age, injury or unmatchable offers and you're right back where you started.

Of course I don't know if McClay, or the new coach, or Jerry or a combination of any of those are capable of stringing together multiple good picks in a given year, anyway, but it's worth a shot, what they've been doing isn't working, OBVIOUSLY....

It would be something to consider for sure, given the looming change in coaching and Prescott's uncertain contract status.

Would I give it good odds? Absolutely not. Could I completely rule it out? No.

We will see. First question. How bad was Tua's injury? That'd scare me a bit. Plus, we need defencive tackle or safety help first.
