If there's a coaching change I'm willing to franchise tag and see if a competent staff (assuming the Cowboys actually assemble one) can elevate his game further. Otherwise, he's going to be what he is but with a lesser supporting cast.

I wonder if it is smarter to not give out any big contracts and rebuild as opposed to paying this group and trying to win with them. Dak is a good QB so it would be hard to part with him but I also don't see the current collection of players being just a coach away. There is a toxic environment here that might need to be gutted rather than just shined up a bit. I don't think Dak is part of the problem but it's hard to rebuild when your QB is making $35-40 million.

During the upcoming interview process with prospective coaches Dak will be a major topic of discussion. I don't think Jerry hires someone who thinks Dak can't play.

I have no problem with a franchise tag and let things play out another year.
