ESPN's Finebaum: Urban Meyer Couldn't Co-Exist With Cowboys' Jerry Jones Beyond One Game

FRISCO - ESPN's Paul Finebaum probably knows Jerry Jones only by reputation. But he surely knows Urban Meyer, and that's enough for him to label the idea of a marriage between the two, "One of the most hilarious things I've ever heard,'' Finebaum predicting that the relationship wouldn't last beyond one game.

Maybe that’s what is needed. JJ hires him and he gets a staff together. We are electric on the field. Then about a half a season in the arguments start behind closed doors over JJ getting to involved and changing things he shouldn’t be. JJ makes a few under handed comments to the media and it all blows up and the team loses out when Urban quits in a loud way on media.

Pretty sure people said the same thing about Jerry and Parcell. Jerry and probably more importantly Stephen knows they need to get this right. The next will have one of the league's most expensive team that in a win-now mode. This is why I see them swinging big and sacrificing whatever necessary to get the best.

Exactly. Jerry will be giving Stephen more responsibility this upcoming season. Everyone who thinks Stephen has no influence is dead wrong. If he didnt. Dez would still be here. And Manziel would be our QB

Yeah, this is dumb. Jerry worked with Parcells for four years because it benefitted him. And no one will say that Meyer is more difficult than the big Tuna.

Ultimately, Jerry will do what's best for his business. And he will tolerate a big name coach in the interest of making more money.

I can see Jerry doing the same thing he did with Parcells with Urban. Step back for a couple years. Then BOOM back to old groundhog day Jerry. lol
This will definitely happen after the team tastes a bit of success. But that still gives us some time to enjoy watching football again.

I agree, which is why I am skeptical that he is coming here.

I could see Ron Rivera coming here before Urban...

people would hate it, but i think giving Rivera a talented roster like this would be interesting and potentially really good. players undoubtedly LOVE Rivera (and not like we've heard they do Garrett). i wouldn't be upset to see what he can do with this roster the next few years.

At a minimum our D would look a lot better.

So a guy who admittedly says he doesn’t know Meyer other than through reputation and doesn’t know Jones says they can’t coexist? Alrighty then

I heard grumbling rather than reporting. It's clear that this curmudgeon doesn't care for either Jones or Meyer as people, and that's fine, whatever, different strokes for different folks. But to say it's "hilarious"? Yeah, that's sour grapes and grinding an axe, not journalism.

What's truly "hilarious" is that farce on top of the guy's head, just shave it already!
:lmao:

I know what you mean, I'm a bit curious about how it would work as well. But then I get Wade Phillips flashbacks of a defensive coordinator that's too easy going and laid back and would continue to let Jerry be Jerry. That would be little more than changing the names to holler at.
