How bad do you want Garrett gone

Just curious to other fans' thoughts on a ridiculous hypothetical.

Would you want us to shock everybody, & get to the Super Bowl this year, assuming two things:

1. Losing in the SB

2. Garrett would be resigned for at least another 5yrs.

Honestly, I think the bar is lower. I think if somehow, some way, this team makes it TO the NFC Championship, Garrett will be resigned. Even with a humiliating loss. I believe JJ & Co. have pretty much telegraphed, that is the bar.

So, what would be your preference..? Make it farther than we have in the last couple decades, knowing Garrett ain't going anywhere, or having our usual late season disappointment, & going another direction as far as coaching goes, going forward..?

Garrett needs to go. But getting rid of him and just hiring another coach without some structural and cultural changes at the top will just be a new coat of paint on the Titanic. Fans need to push for REAL change, not just a new puppet for Jerry to play with.

I think it's time for a fresh approach for the Cowboys. That can only start with a change in coaching philosophy. Have seen too many good teams go nowhere under Garrett. The success has been minimal when you consider playoff wins.

Make it to the NFFCG, lose, I still want a change, but he will probably get a 3 year contract. But if he fails the next season, I can see Jerry still making a change.
Make it to the SB, lose, same thing but Jerry gives him at least 2 of the years.

Win the SB, I can see a 5 year deal. However, he still may only see 2 or 3 years of that, if things fall back into this rut.

But still give me the playoffs and take the chance he is here but as mentioned above, we MUST have a new DC, and I am not sure Ricahrd is that guy.

I would rather we didn't get to the Super Bowl if that meant keeping Garrett. We need new leadership moving forward. Having said that, I don't think it is reasonable to assume that we can get that far. I wouldn't be suprised if we lost to the Eagles this Sunday. But I hope not

I know it sounds simple and not very in depth but I just wanna see this team win. I understand that we arent always going to play great but I wanna see this team take that next step. A SB would be amazing and every fan here, I would hope, would want to see us there regardless of who is on the side line.

I wanna see us win and continue to build a good roster to keep us competitive for a long time. If Garrett somehow got us to that place then I cant see how I could want him gone. Right now? I want Garrett to be replaced as much as anyone because I dont think he magically turns this thing around. Maybe I'm wrong but if he somehow becomes the coach who gets us back to a superbowl and gets this team playing the game way we want? Then I'd say he deserves to be here. This is all hypothetical speak because I just can't see a SB from this team based off one good game last week. If they get there I will be happy as all hell but I think it's one game, one win, and we should treat it that way. No reason to think extremes in either direction but this team has been average as far as their record says. We could win a few more or we could be flat on our face in the wild card round if we even get there. I guess the answer is simply I want to win whether that be Garrett or someone else standing on the sideline.

I would take a chance at a Super Bowl for 5 more years of Garret for sure. As long as we can get a real defensive coordinator.

Jerry should just promote him to GM if he loves him so much. It's not going to happen, though, and Garrett is gone.

I don't hate the guy, just don't see how he's any closer to making this a SB team compared to 2014 or 16 or....

If he could get this team to the SB this year then keep him.

Doesn't matter honestly. I want the coach empowered and pressured to make changes to his staff if/when things aren't going as planned. I want Jerry (because he is the GM) to demand better from the HC, who should be able to fire his ST coach if he's not up to par. Wether it comes from jason, Jerry, some other HC I could care less.

If Garrett gets the team to the Super Bowl, he deserves to keep his job.

The reason I want him fired is because I don't believe he and his philosophy can get us there. If he proves me wrong, I'd be fine with him being re-signed.

If he gets to the NFC Championship Game, keeping him would depend on a few things. Were we competitive in the game? Were coaching errors/being outcoached a factor in the loss? Those things would need to be evaluated. I believe that whenever we lose it's not going to be because the other team had more talent but because we were outcoached.

I'd like to say it's Super Bowl or bust for him. However, since I think we'll likely lose to Philly or be ousted early from the playoffs, I don't think we'll be left in a quandary.

So many dislike him but I have a feeling the next guy is going to be the same or worse. And away we go!!!

JJ=The definition of insanity. Doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome.

Can I give two answers?

1) My #1 want is to get to the SB and win. If he gets resigned...which he would, then it still doesn't guarantee anything. 2 years after that he could bottom out and be gone. But we would have a #6 SB and that is great!

2) I want him gone definitely and think we need a new approach so if we miss the playoffs or lose before the NFC Championship game, it's kind of a given. We've underachieved.

So if either happens I'm fine. The scenario I don't like is getting blown out in the NFC Championship Game and a resign because I still don't know what clarity you have.

Getting rid of Garrett is a no brainer.

The structural and cultural changes you talk about are desirable, but highly unlikely. All we can realistically hope for is that the right guy is hired who can handle Jerry on the one hand and maximize the talent on the team in the other.

It's not an easy job, but I think the right hire can do it. We all have to hope so anyway.

If we get to the NFC Championship or the Super Bowl, I'll be extremely surprised and will be rethinking my desire to get rid of Garrett. I'm just not sure. I also don't want to just replace him with another puppet. If he's replaced, I want it with a real coach.
