Two 7-7 teams line up Sunday to decide the NFC Least. Both teams have been extremely inconsistent despite having more talent than is reflected in their records. The Cowboys have the #1 offense in the NFL and the #7 defense statistically speaking. (Which screams how poor our coaching has been) The E-girls have the #9 defense and the #16 offense.

I’m calling Sunday’s game “The Mediocre Bowl”. Which of these two underachieving teams can emerge to make the playoffs? (Then probably get killed in round one, lol)

Not surprisingly, both teams have some similar statistical areas. Here are some examples of both teams’ matchups in the stats category:
OFFENSE
  • Cowboys- #1 in total yards (434), #2 in passing yards (300) #6 in rushing yards (134), #5 in PPG avg 27 ppg.
  • E-girls- #16 in total yds (352) #16 passing yds (231), #11 rushing (121) #12 in PPG avg 23.9.
  • Cowboys run game had 189 yds vs the egirls back in October. Filly has given 100+ yards in 4 games and they are not surprisingly, 1-3 in those games.
  • The Cowboys clearly have a better offense, although that doesn’t guarantee it will be that way Sun.
DEFENSE
  • Cowboys #7 in tot yards (323), #8 in passing yds (220), #12 in rushing yds (104), #12 in ppg with 20.6
  • Egirls 9 in tot yds (328), #15 in passing yds (238), #3 in rush yds allowed (90.4), #16 in ppg with 23.4
  • Cowboys are #27th in league with TOs (15), and #16 in sacks (36)
  • Egirls are #18 in turnovers (17), and #13 in sacks (37)
  • I’m still amazed that Cowboys D is ranked #7 in yards, and #12 in PPG. If this team would ever get some TOs, they would probably be 10-4 instead of 7-7.
  • Watch out for Egirls run defense. 3rd best against the run.
5 KEYS TO WINNING SUNDAY
  1. The Cowboys must be able to run the ball. With Dak’s throwing shoulder hurt, I have a feeling he won’t be at his passing best. If we can get somewhere between 120-150 on the ground, we will win.
  2. The Cowboys MUST get off to a fast start like the first time we beat the egirls. In each of the Cowboys 7 losses, the team was behind at halftime. In 5 of their losses, they were behind 2 scores by the second qtr. This team cannot fall two scores down at Filly against a good defense.
  3. The Cowboys need to be at least +2 on turnovers. The Egirls have a -6 turnover margin. In all their losses, not surprisingly they had multiple TOs.
  4. The Cowboys must be able to protect Dak against the blitz. The egirls blitz about 28% of the time, but when they play us, they usually blitz more. With Dak’s shoulder situation, I expect to see lots of blitzes.
  5. Stop the run- Force the egirls to throw. Filly has several good receivers hurt. They are depending on guys from the practice squad and waiver wire.
If the Cowboys can do the things above, they should win. Dallas has superior talent. We all know that alone isn’t enough, especially with Coach Vanilla on our sideline. I expect a low scoring game- something like Dallas 20- Filly 13. Hope so anyway.

Nice post Bob, but last time we played them it was like 37 to 6 or something like that.. I don't know about you, but I put some credence in past experiences when it comes to teams. Sure the Eagles will be at home and desperate but they couldn't be any more desperate than Jerry's clowns. Nice write up with stats and all, but I think you can throw that stuff out the window.

Last game was 37-10 Cowboys. Yeah, we have certainly had their number as of late. But in the NFL, the past is not a reliable predictor of the future. The Cowboys haven’t won two games in a row since games 7 and 8. I think this game is going to be a very physical low scoring battle.

I'm only excited about this game because Dallas can knock out the Eagles and then I'll turn on their radio station and listen to them cry. Their pain brings me joy. But they're going to be ready to play. They're home, got embarrassed the last time, and it's the Cowboys. Should be an entertaining game. But lets face it, this is a small battle for bragging rights for the NFCE. It doesn't mean much outside of that. As opposed to the final game of the season in 1993.

If the Eagles stack the line and box out Cooper they might have a chance. They have to hit Dak a lot early on to have a chance.
Their offense is too weak and erratic to put up big numbers, so their only hope is to play tough defense and wait for Dak to choke.
But if the game is forced into Dak's hands and they assign a corner to cover Jarwin while boxing out Cooper, Dak will likely shut down again.

I don't expect that same kind of score. I think in that game we got some turnovers and made some plays early and things snowballed. But if the same team shows up that did this last Sunday, who knows?

Great post as always Bullet . I would like to add with no #1 WR to stretch the field it is even more important that we learn how to sniff out and defend the screen . They will dink and dunk down the field if given the chance .
We also need to prepare for cold weather . Its freezing up here right now and we dont play well in cold weather .

That said not much depth on there Dline and Cox is getting wore down IMO we should be able to run the ball and pass efficiently, but we must protect the ball in this cold weather game . Just hoping the league dosent use the refs to manipulate this game to make next weeks division games meaningful . If we win there would be no reason to watch next weeks games season for all 4 team is basically over .

I think this game is going to be a very physical low scoring battle.

If this is true... I think it says very bad things for us. I am not sure what all of those bad things are but my gut says that we NEED to walk into Philly and repeat our performance against the Rams. The Cowboys need to show themselves, the fans fans, the coaches, the front office, their management, whoever, that they have it and want it!

In my mind, anything other than a command ENCORE performance is a white flag. Or at least begs the question...

GO COWBOYS!!!!!

Don't give Wentz time to throw. Flush him out of the pocket so he continues doing what he does best,
fumble & incomplete passes. :lmao:

We should stop apologizing if we win the East. We underperformed expectations, but it was a tough schedule. If we get in, nobody’s going to be hoping they get Dallas. Most of those games we lost to good teams came down to a turnover. We’re healthy and have a complete roster. We just need to get in.

This very well could be a repeat of a couple years ago or a few years ago with 6-0 score but if I remember right that game was incredibly called and they didn't play a whole lot of people weather should be nicer and there's something to play for
