Cowboys can make big moves if they want

With Cooper & Dak unsigned this team can pivot in tune with new HC. Cowboys have a ton of compensatory picks coming their way in 2021 (which now can be traded). You franchise Dak and give new HC 16 games to evaluate him. You let Cooper walk and live with Galloway. If things don't work out this team will have resources to move up in 2021 draft for QB. The worst thing Jones could do is throw more massive money at players who do everything but get into playoffs and win.
Galloway? Isnt he like 50 now? Maybe we should just resign Dez? :muttley:

You ain’t winning much with Gallup as your #1 WR.

That’s not a slight on the kid but he’s not an upper echelon kid.

You want to let Cooper walk? Fine. But you need to bring in a new big time WR then. Pouring all the money into the defense is just repeating the 2018 offseason when you thoare got you could win with middling WRs.

We lost the game were Gallup was our #1 WR (Jets), and we lost games where Cooper was our #1 receiver (Vikes) . The #1 WR doesn't really matter. What's the difference when you're goin to lose either way?

Letting Cooper walk after using a first round pic for him 14 months ago is brutal.

It hurts but Dallas can't be in the market of over-paying all of their good players. At 18-20 mill for Cooper that would be another over-pay.

Looks great in theory. Unfortunately, I have little confidence in the decision makers.

One is senile the other is just a coattail riding jerk.

The Cowboys have like the 3rd or 4th most money available under the cap for next year.

Additionally they will have a decent draft position this year.

It would be pretty easy to replace 30-35% (or more) of the roster for next year.

Bring in a HC that knows football, lets go win some games.

Cowboys Fan heading towards Cleveland Browns way. Rinse and Repeat.

Well they have this thing called the draft and free agency. Basically every championship team over the last decade had wr on the level of Gallup. Then they played excellent defense and ran the ball well.

Find a young wr and tight end and improve the defense.

and again I am speaking in terms of a rebuild so the expectation is not a super bowl or bust. So you have more than one offseason to build the team.

You are being shortsighted and emotional.

You need better WRs next year than Gallup and Austin. Cobb is a FA too.

I don’t have an issue with letting Cooper walk. But you need a better back up plan than just slapping together a WR corps.

I do not think they will let Dak walk but if they wanted then the upcoming offseason would be the time to do it. There are a few FA QBs to chose from and a few in the draft they could target. In some ways this is not the ideal time for Dak and his agent to be asking for a huge contract.
Dak and his agent already blew it. He's getting franchised now or taking considerably less than Wentz and goff. He doesn't deserve that type of money. Dak had everything around him this year and still failed. I know there are problems every where with this team and organization, but dak did nothing to prove he is worth top tier money.

They will be making big moves by signing Dak and Cooper to long term contracts!

Well, hell. Draft one? There are some FA's out there. Trade for one? Not like this corp is doing anything anyways. What's the worst that could happen with another one? We lose like we did in the beginning of the 2018 season, like we're losing now?

the jones are to stupid to let that happen. they will give insane contracts to cooper and Prescott and cripple the salary cap and then sign bargin basement players to fill in the gaps.

Exactly this. I don't know how people don't already know this. It's what Jerry does. He'll never do what needs to be done. It took him a decade to fire one of the worst coaches in the NFL (assuming he does actually fire him). And if he does fire Garrett, he'll do it with tears in his eyes. Jerry will never be all-in on winning another Super Bowl, because these guys are "family". We will keep poor coaches, overpay mediocre talent, and then scour the bargain bin. I don't know what makes anyone think Jerry will finally snap into reality.

I watched bunch of no-name Eagle WRs work the Cowboys D today. They don't need to bring in big time WR. What they need is QB who can be accurate. I would be in favor of signing mid-tier WR for short contract or taking WR in 1st three rounds in this draft.

That is why the pats have no name receivers for years, need an accurate QB which we don't have.

Thought the prime picks had to go for defense?

Now we have to use one on a WR?

Draft Shenault WR from Colorado in the first. And in the second draft Montez QB from Colorado. They already have a good connection. You can get that DT from Texas in the fourth and that safety from SMU in the fifth.
1)WR
2)QB
3)CB
4)DT
5)SS
7)TE

why would you have to use a prime pick on a wr. Good Ones get taken all over the draft board and some are never drafted.
