Proud of Defensive Effort / Jaylon Smith Must Go

I just wanted to say that I was proud of the defensive effort from the majority of the team. Most of the guys fought super hard and were laying it all out on the line for the win. Some guys that I have been low on before such as Heath, Jones and Woods were really selling out. Lee was awesome. Lawrence and Quinn and Lewis all great. These guys really wanted to win and it showed.

I feel badly that they were let down by the coaching staff and the front office who thoughtlessly make them play with what is essentially 10 men on the field by leaving Jaylon Smith out there for 100% of the defensive plays. His level of play and physical presence is honestly the worst I have ever seen. His teammates must hate him at this point. I can't imagine what the room is like when they go over the film. Every single play is mind blowing.

I’ll preface this by saying the offense was at fault for the loss last night.

But I am sick and tired of a defense that doesn’t get turnovers. Sick and tired of it.

I couldn’t care less about their “effort” last night. They were playing a practice squad offense. They should
Have held them to that many points.

they also should have gotten more sacks and a turnover or two.

I agree turn overs are a huge problem and as you said the offense lost the game for sure. It is 100% the way we are coached and the bend but don't break scheme that we play that is responsible for the lack of turn overs. They draft players that do not take chances. Lewis is a great example of a guy that wants to make a play and he was in the dog house forever because of it. Very frustrating stuff.

agreed. They coach the DB’s to let the receiver catch the ball and just make the tackle. It’s disgusting.

Did he even have a tackle?

All I remember was seeing him celebrate with a teammate who actually made a play after it was over.

Good post.

Lewis sucks. The ball bounces his way but he's too short to make more plays. He'd probably be a baller if he was taller.

It is bewildering to me... Jaylon was a consensus top 5 pick if he was healthy

He was touted as this instinctual, athletic freak of a LBer. His second year with Dallas he was making plays all over the field with LVE.

This year? It’s like he has turned into a soft, selfish, fundamentally unsound player that seems to care more about his businesses and brands off the field

Most disappointing player in 2019 for me.

Only guy in secondary that can make plays, proven to be so and you are ripping him?

Yea he does sometimes. More often he gets picked on. He's given up more catches than any other DB. QB's have the highest completion percent when throwing at shorty.

Smith is an absolute fraud as a linebacker.

You cannot trot a guy with Smith’s deficiencies out as a starting linebacker.

You cannot.

I’m very interested in seeing who gets brought in as a coaching staff because they should give Jaylon a very short leash. Don’t wait on correcting the mistake (early contract extension); fix the problem because it only affects the team’s bottom line (i.e. success).

Wentz was 31/40 for 320 and no turnovers. The defense sucked. The eagles offense is down to practice squad players at the skill positions and they still carved them up. Ertz missed half the game as well. Yes they only have up 17 but against that depleted team u should be forcing three and outs throughout the game.

I am sick of the entire team. From top on down.
A few players play hard still, but the effort I see from most lack a lot.

But what really gets me are the excuses. The non chant I don't care attitude.
And that has a lot to do with Garrett's way too laid back demeanor.

I have never seen a middle line backer run around plays to avoid contact then high five his teammates after the tackle like he does.

Jaylon is making business decisions after he already got his contract for years to come. A bad look.

Meanwhile, Heath in a contract year completely sells out. GOAT!
