Proud of Defensive Effort / Jaylon Smith Must Go

I just wanted to say that I was proud of the defensive effort from the majority of the team. Most of the guys fought super hard and were laying it all out on the line for the win. Some guys that I have been low on before such as Heath, Jones and Woods were really selling out. Lee was awesome. Lawrence and Quinn and Lewis all great. These guys really wanted to win and it showed.

I feel badly that they were let down by the coaching staff and the front office who thoughtlessly make them play with what is essentially 10 men on the field by leaving Jaylon Smith out there for 100% of the defensive plays. His level of play and physical presence is honestly the worst I have ever seen. His teammates must hate him at this point. I can't imagine what the room is like when they go over the film. Every single play is mind blowing.
Yes- he can get the hell out of here!!! He was such a wasted pick!

I just don't know if i can blame the defense the last 2 weeks or for most of the season .They showed more heart and only allowed 17pts!! It's our offense that let us down yesterday and most of the season..How the hell did dallas not get to 20pts or better yet score one damn TD on offense. They were terrible, just flat out disgusting.. Now i agree they have been horrible at times with missed tackles and blown coverages but 17pts!! We have to win that kind of a game we just have to!!

They gave up 430 yards and the eagles converted 43% of their third downs. They were missing their best lineman, their top three wrs, and ertz for much of the game. Defense has to dominate that game. They didnt

Get some competent defensive coaches and figure out why Smith could make plays last year but seems allergic to tackling this year. The talent is there but something from the neck up just isn't working right.
As disgusting as they played most of the season if we had some competent *** coaching we would be all world!! I agree with Big Dog!!! I'm jusr pissed because even after all that they only allowed 17 and our damn ******** junior league offense can't score 1 damn td on offense!! Smdh

Absolutely Tom!!! I agree but ****** man they only gave up 17 but they always get their golden tails whipped on 3rd down and can't get off the field when it matters most..Nothing bright about this loss, the got their ***** kicked!! The whole team just stinks, as a fan of over 40yrs i just can't watch these guys play

Sean Lee is the best player on the entire team. God help us when he retires. And we have a kicker now.

The problem with the defense was scheme. The Eagles killed the Cowboys with little flairs and screens and those passes to the TEs over the middle. For some reason the Cowboys defense lets TEs go over the middle uncontested and RBs out out the backfield uncovered. Last year the defense would swarm to those players and keep them from going for big plays. This year, its just amazing how open the RBs and TEs are almost every play. It was obvious from the first Eagles possession that Wentz was throwing quick, short passes to get the ball out of his hand. The Cowboys continued to play that soft off coverage. How many times did we see the TE sit in the middle of the field while the Cowboys defenders watched him make a catch? The Eagles took advantage of a Cowboys defense that plays soft. Then, the Eagles ran the same screen play to the TE that Chicago ran with almost the same result. Two linemen downfield with no one to block.

The Cowboys defense needs to be more aggressive against teams like the Eagles that have no downfield threats. The longest pass came on a broken coverage. Other long plays were screens.

But, at the end of the day, the Eagles came out more fired up than Dallas and showed they wanted it more. The Cowboys were unprepared and flat. This was a game for all the marbles. In retrospect, I would rather they lost to he Rams and gave that kind of effort against the Eagles.

Unless Dallas finds a team that has a dumber front office than they do we are stuck with Smith for awhile. Either that or dead cap money if you let him walk.

Actually, the more I read the headline of this post “proud of the defensive effort” the more ill I become.

we are going to applaud their effort against a practice squad offense, while forcing 0 turnovers and getting only 1 sack?

how about their effort against the bears and bills? Win one of those games and the game last night doesn’t matter. But our defense got EMBARRASSED in those games.

Freaking awful

I wasn’t impressed with the defense. Giving up way too many yards early....again lousy sack numbers, and no takeaways. Did decent against run,but giving up key plays to a depleted offense? I can’t say that’s good defense when a handicapped unit catches 300 yards on you. Nothing to be proud of in that. Especially being biggest game of year...make a big play late to turn the game and for crying out loud ...sack the QB. It’s a mental thing with Wentz...you do it a couple times and things start getting out of synch with him,and good chance he’ll fumble it too.

Jaylon played for the contract last year. He got his contract and now it appears he could care less about the team and more about celebrating over nonsense. He's a poser and soft. Go sell your **** somewhere else - you looked AWFUL yesterday (not that you care). You're weak.

The defense is bad, the scheme is terrible. Add in the two missed FG’s and that is 23. It can be 30 if we count their last run to end the game. Philthys best WR was a QB at UH...........

That unit needs wholesale changes.

The reason i very simple it is Jaylon. Teams are picking on him without mercy. I would be that at least half the third down conversions were straight forward passes to the marker with Jaylon no where to be found. Some players were going after the screens and making plays the issue is the main man in the absolute middle of the defense that is supposed to impact almost every play is an absolute no show. Can you imagine he is the captain on the field too and he has zero clue what is going on.

This scheme is pure trash, players are always back peddling than asked to make plays in the open field vs players will a full head of steam.

They almost never attack the LOS.

35 million dollars was guaranteed. Simply unbelievable. No other team in the NFL would have drafted him in the second round. No other team would have let him play when he was limping and killing the team. No other team would have given him that contract. Only a team where the Owner pretends to be a GM can do these things. We are in the entertainment business not the winning football games business.
