For sure it’s a crossroads. Does Jerry want to win or just continue playing big shot? We will soon know. I wish fans would send a strong message now while we have his attention- either don’t show up Sun or if you must, put a bag over your face.

I suspect JJ and the Jones family run their oil and gas, as well as real estate ventures, in a much more businesslike (dare I say, ruthless) manner. Certainly, more bottomline focused than the way they run the football team. And, therein is the rub. The fact that the football operations make money hand over fist really dampens the fact that the football team has generally been a huge disappointment.

I suspect that Jones looks at the football operations as "family" and not just a business. I am sure ther are other owners that share similar feelings, but none to the extent of Jones.

We often poke fun of Al Davis and make comparisons with JJ. One area they were much different was Al's relentless pursuit of a title. He had no qualms with firing the entire FO and moving the team if it didn't meet his expectations. You can easily argue Al didn't go about it the right way, but he was a much more accountable owner than Jerry (though, no less meddlesome).

That is where you are wrong. Jerry does run the football team in a bottom line manner. Except it is about money where Jerry is winning huge. On the field not so much.

The only way to succeed is for Jerry to hire a GM and coaches that have ultimate authority on discipline and picks.

This of course wont happen as Jerry will never relinquish control and let others have the spot lite of building a successful team.

The right head coach could take over with the coordinators that are in place and the current talent level and win.
Jerry's still willing to pay for talent on the field and good coordinators. It's his weakness and delusion that Garrett is some long lost son that has destroyed the integrity and competitiveness of the Cowboys.

That’s the chemistry that worked in the early 90s. What we’ve seen since then is a quarter century of a soft, coddling culture that fosters entitlement instead of toughness. And it fails every time.

When Jerry is in total control from board room to locker room, it’s a country club culture, with a sugar coated, pie in the sky outlook instead of of a cold, tough and brutally honest one.

Let’s be honest as fans about what we have here.

• This is a soft, spoiled culture.
• Those players need someone to lead them who will send them to “the athsma field” if needed or cut somebody’s arse for lackadaisical play.
• This organization needs a leader who will hold people accountable instead of giving them a hug and a raise.
• This team needs strong cultural leadership or it will continue to reflect Jerry’s enabling soft approach.
• The NFL crowns a champion every year. That champion is usually the physically and mentally toughest team that year. Dallas is never that team as long as the biggest softie in the league is in charge.

Sometime in the next 60-90 days, we will learn whether Jerry has learned anything or not. We will learn If he’s serious about winning or seriously deluded.

I hope that’s true...but what makes you so sure? Jerry doesn’t think like a normal person.

Totally agree, but wishful thinking.

The only time after Jimmy left that Jerry relented and gave up any control was when he hired Parcells. But that was after the decline and three straight 5-11 seasons when Jerry was desperate and wanted backing for the new stadium.

I seriously doubt he's finally desperate to really win and relinquish control like he did when he hired Jimmy and Parcells. Jerry still wants to have his hands involved in all aspects and our only hope is to get lucky, but we've seen how that's worked out the last 25 years.
