Meyer...so what we're going to run a "spread option" college O, which is all he's ever run, now?
The Cowboys are #1 in the league in offense.

Coming into this season, I thought we needed an offensive genius like Riley.

Now I think we need a guy that has his hands in every facet of the team: offense, defense, special teams, game planning, game management, team discipline. A CEO if you will. Meyer seems like the best candidate to be that guy, just like Jimmy was.

I'll reiterate my opinion here...doesn't matter what coach DC brings in here, good or bad, it's going to net the same result with the Jonz fam in control... Hold me to it...and call me on it if it ever actually happens otherwise...

a functional offense that responds and adjusts to how the game is unfolding.
one that wont try to force feed Zeke when it ain't workin or force the pass vs the best secondary in a monsoon.
one that wont abandon the run.
and will
RUN.
THE.
DAMN.
BALL.
AT.
THE.
GOAL.

There will be endless speculation but who do you think will be the Head Coach of the Cowboys in 2020?

My call: Urban Meyer
I cant take a guess because I cant get into the mind of a dummy, but I can tell you who I would like and not like. Lol

Greg Roman and McCarthy would be my top 2. I DO NOT want to go the college route, but if we did Id like to see Rhule. I wouldnt cry too much about Riley or even Tony Elliot.

Who I dont want is a college coach, especially Meyer, or defensive minded coach who is going to keep us, or take us back further into the 80s style football.

Since its JJ, it will probably be Meyer or a defensive minded coach lol.

Probably someone on staff or someone that will be brought in specifically as a figurehead that won't change what our coaches are doing.

Its not a unique opinion. We've all heard it a thousand times. What your suggesting isnt an option. So we can only hope we hire coaches capable of overcoming whatever obstacles may come there way.

It has to be someone that will let Jerry hire all the coordinators and assistants , pick all the players, choose who starts and sits , has press conferences that undermine the efforts of head coach by sharing injury information... in other words a head coach that WILL be set up to fail.

My gut says McCarthy who has been pretty quiet for a guy that's a top candidate an entire year.

Like with Rivera these guys know who is taking what job long before the public does.

My guess with Urban is he is using these openings to get his name out there but ends up back in college for a powerhouse like USC or UT.
Someone desperate to win with resources galore being wasted.
BUT I wouldn't mind Meyer. He is consumed with winning. He's no where near the guy Jason Garrett is but being smarmy and bending rules hasn't hurt the Pats any.
If you want a win at all costs culture, Meyer is a great fit.

Riley would be an amazing OC but it'd all be on the job NFL training for him. He's a Lubbock kid and bred behind some great collegiate minds but he has zero NFL pedigree or knowledge. He was a walk on at Tech who hasn't ever held a head coaching position besides the one he has now which included a full staff and top 20 classes yearly in tow. He will eventually take on a tougher challenge but I don't see Dallas being the place to offer him that first NFL job.

I could see Rhule really impress Jerry Jones. He has dipped his toe in the NFL at least and he's the same kind of tough northeast guy Jerry got when he hired Bill Parcells.
You'd imagine Rhule would be very apt to keep another former Penn St in Sean Lee on his staff.

End of day though I think McCarthy and some of the old ties Jerry has to Ron Wolf win out. McCarthy has coached in FOUR NFC Championship games and won a Super Bowl.
That resume is tough to beat.
