Not impressed with Rivera. Had a potentially great QB, but never did anything to protect him.

It’s a shame that Cam never had a decent line in front of him. It appeared that Rivera cared more about the DL and neglected the OL
I don't think you can blame Rivera for that. Cam's game was running. He thought he was bigger and stronger than most quarterbacks, which he was, and could endure the punishment. But he wasn't bigger than defensive linemen. So Cam ran more than he should have and never took care of himself when he was running. He would run straight towards defenders, rarely slid, flip and leap over defenders, and it ultimately took its toll on Cam. I don't think Rivera could change Cam's style because that's the way he's always played. Now that Cam is banged up, he's going to become average because he was never that great a passer. Sometimes, you roll with the quarterback you have, which is what Baltimore is now doing with Lamar Jackson and what Atlanta did with Michael Vick. You ride them until you can't ride them any more then get yourself a traditional quarterback.

You know what the highlight of this news is? RON RIVERA HIRE JACK DEL RIO, not Dan Snyder hired Jack Del Rio. You can bet when it comes to the Cowboys it will be Jerry Jones hires new DC or OC. This is why Commanders fans have reason to be optimistic.

In the meantime, it takes Jerry at least 3 meetings with Jason Garrett to make a decision to fire him or keep him. Time is wasting. Other teams are moving on from their mistakes. Jerry is wringing his hands.

Finally someone gets it...... Snyder is letting his new coach bring in who he wants. Something that will never happen in Jerry's world....

Excellent job in calling out how the process is supposed to work. As to the Garrett meetings, perhaps the reason that Jerry is taking his time is that Jason will be retained in some position other than head coach and Jerry already has a pending ( not officiall) deal with a college coach or someone else. Of course he has to go through the motions via the Rooney Rule, but either way it seems Jerry already has made his mind up

Skins defense has good coordinators now...lotsa experience and talent to work with. Moving to a 4-3 with Sweat, Kerrigan, Payne and Allen is stout, and I don't want to talk about Chase Young being added.

They are decent coaches but its just the fact teams are already making hires. By the time Garrett is out and Jerry hires his next HC the market could be shallow. Jerry needs to get a move on and stop looking for attention.

It’s a good front. Linebackers are still meh. Holcomb was stout and Foster is always injured. Dunbar is decent and Collins is overrated.

Despite that though, some key young pieces. They could be rolling in a year or two.

The last two defenses Del Rio took over were bottom five in the league. Two years later, they were top two in the league. He knows defense.

It’s been a while since he’s been a true defensive coordinator. So you could be right. Spending all of his time coaching the D could do wonders.

Del Rio hasn't been a defensive coordinator since his time with the Broncos in 2014 but did previously coach that particular unit to the league's second-ranking in 2012. Having said that, his defense in each of his three seasons with the Raiders notably underperformed. Washington is the first team Del Rio has been linked to this offseason.

Depending who the Giants hire, we may be last place in the division next season.
If Garrett stays. Depends on the new coach otherwise.

No chance we are last place next season lol.

Giants and Skins still a good two seasons from competing

Don't be too sure. We're going through a transition too. We're basically going to be starting from scratch. I want to win, but if we had a setback next year, I wouldn't be bothered in the least. Guess who's coming out next year … first name, Trevor, last name, Lawrence.

Those are 2 solid hires by the Skins. Getting healthy and adding these coaches just made them a much better and tougher team mentally as well. Del Rio and Rivera are no nonsense tough guys and their teams play that way
They might even get Trent Williams to participate next year?
