Peyton vs McCarthy for HC

I have seen people in the past couple of days worried that McCarthy will not be an upgrade.
Based on what?

There’s some that say McCarthy only won a SB bc he had Aaron Rodgers..

Yet, those same people would trade draft capital to the Saints for Sean Peyton who has 1 SB w/ Drew Brees in his prime.(not to mention.. a Bountygate defense)

Its this kind of ignorance that runs wild on this site.

Opinions are like A......

I would say that Peyton would be my first choice in a vacuum.

But he would cost multiple draft picks in compensation.

McCarthy would cost salary only.

They have very similar coaching records and both have won Super bowls.

I would take McCarthy and keep the draft picks, thank you!

Hope we hire a proven NFL coach and don't go the College route.

Your thoughts ?

If he could get on board with the way the league and game is going then fine. I would prefer Rileys offensive mind a guy who can adjust on the fly not at halftime or after it's too late. But McCarthy had issues adjusting as well like Garrett

Yikes, did not know that

Overrated in my opinion.
Jimmy didn’t have it and win it all.
Same for Switzer.

If a guy can innovate, inspire, and hold players accountable, he can win. At any level. That’s my opinion.

I mean, I get what your saying, but the scales of successful vs. unsuccessful when it comes to transitioning from college to the NFL are tipped wildly against college coaches. Saban couldn't even manage it and he's the best college football coach of all time. He ticks off everything you listed and still flopped.

I'm not saying the transition can't be successful, but I think with thr makeup of this team as it is, it's in our favor to hire someone with NFL experience. I know Meyer is an exciting name, but he's a turd of a person and seems to have "health issues" every time things get rough. I'll support him if he's named, but I don't want the guy.

Kellen "The Hammer" Moore will probably end up as our hc lol.

I don’t always agree with you but I 100% do here. I think having some NFL experience on staff can help a transition go more smoothly... but a great college HC can be a great NFL HC, IMO.

I can't see NO trading Payton.

He was their coach post Katrina and led them to a sb win.

They stuck with him during the bounty gate and I doubt they have any second thoughts on letting him leave now

Off Topic,
But I love the way Jerry waited until the Eagles game to make the Garrett announcement !!!
Raining on the parade LLOOLL

It would have happened two hours earlier but Jerry couldn't stop laughing about Wentz getting hurt.

Apparently folks arent aware of how much better they are defensively this year compared to last..Rodgers was hurt last year as well

And Favre loved him so ....
I dont know man. I guess. Anythings better than the piece of trash that got fired so im happy regardless. Just dont want another clown

Not to mention them trading him to the Cowboys.

I think its binary with Payton, either he has an out clause that lets him walk away from his contract or he isn't a factor at all. I don't see either side wanting to do a trade.

Also GB got a lot of breaks this year, they were 13-3 in the same way the Cowboys were in 2016 when they really were a 10 win team that had all the breaks go their way so they ended up winning 13.

Against Dallas GB had the play were Amari Cooper would have scored but instead had the ball through his hands for a pick, that may never happen again in Cooper's career. Also there were four really bad calls in that game and they went 4 - 0 for GB, then the following week they beat the Lions by 1 point in a game where the calls went their way as well.

Read up on it. Check into how bad things were. Then reconsider.
