For the money Dak wants, Cowboys could get just about any QB they want

Marcus Mariota will be available, too. He would be an upgrade over Dak.

Do you even watch football, Mariota isn't even close to being as good as Dak. Neither are Keenum, Bridgewater, Foles or Carr. Dak has his flaws, but so does every QB not named Mahomes.

Mariota had a better running game than Dallas and got benched because he couldn't make basic throws.

Foles just flat out sucks. He's terrible. Had a great 2 game run to win the super bowl, kudos to him for that, but he's sucked as a starter.

Oh Brother Roy, lame statistics that mean nothing again ? That’s the best you got ? Lol. Tell me what your stats got your team ? NOTHING. Hey, do some stats on how often Dak threw behind, ahead, too high, or too low, to open receivers. And let’s play the highlight of him throwing a 4 yard swing pass in the dirt to Zeke on 3 and 5. And dude, you can get good prices on lasik surgery nowadays for those eyes...lol. Gets rid of your coke bottle vision when you’re watching quarterbacks. Sheesh.

lol....stats don’t count I guess when they don’t suit your agenda. Yet when dak was averaging 200 yards a game it’s all you trolls talked about. Lol

wins were a team stat previously, now it’s on your agenda when we go 8-8.

typical selective troll behavior.

I remember that. Remember the proclamation that Dak would NEVER throw for 400 yards in a game, and that we'd be a good team if he could just throw for 300? Funny stuff!!!

Tannehil? I always thought he could be decent and never had a shot in MIA.

I don't buy the playoff winning thing. Sanchez won playoff games. Really doesn't prove anything. Grossman played in a super bowl. Tebow won a playoff game. Bortles should have been in a super bowl. Just because a QB wins a playoff game does not make him good.

I'm still on the fence w/ Dak. I've seen both good and bad. My thinking is that if he won't take 25ish/season, then you franchise him, or maybe even give him a 3 yr/90mil contract. Only way I'd give him longer term is if the team has outs after 3 yrs.
Agree with most of this. Only mentioned the playoff thing because so many on here point to Dak winning a playoff as justification of why he is elite and should be paid.

I'm not so much on the fence with Dak.. I've seen enough to suggest he won't ever have the accuracy or field vision to win deep... but agree with the dollar evaluation. I actually have no problem if Dak gets another year under the tag or if we signed him to a 25M deal.. I think he is, considering the valuation of QBs in the league, a 22.5M QB. My issue is that if you pay him the 40M that he wants.. then you lose Quinn, Jones, Cooper et al. Another poster (might have been this thread or another) suggested that its not our money so we shouldn't care what Dak gets paid. I don't care if the man gets paid.. I have nothing against him as a person (all reports suggest he is a fine human being) my issue as a fan is IF he gets paid (and I suspect Jones will cave) then the team I love gets decimated to do it and we end up back in those dark days when our cap was out of control and we were stuck with multiple big ugly contracts.

I have really admired our cap management over the past five years but the zeke contract and Dlaw contract and Jaylon contract.. whilst all justifiable at the time and still.. just makes me nervous we are putting all our eggs in the "right now" basket and could miss out on creating long term sustained success.

Yeah, I generally don't enter into the normal Dak arguments. Mostly they're just two groups regurgitating. This thread, however, was just so dumb I couldn't help myself!!! Keenum? Ick.

According to reports, Dak has great field vision. Since I've seen some issues there, I'm wondering whether it's him or the scheme. Not sure McCarthy would provide any proof, though.

No way I give Dak a contract paying him 40 mil/season.

Yes instead of Dak the Cowboys can have any cast off QB in the NFL they want. Or they can give up several drafts to trade up for an unknown rookie QB.

Possibly. Unless you can get a coach in here to get Z more serious, might be. I wouldn't have paid him. I like his play on the field when he's not fat and out of shape.

Should have traded him. That’s where his value was.

Agree Keenum is left field.. and not who I would go for but everyone is entitled to an opinion.

I guess we will find out re field vision being him or scheme.. either he will have yet another new coach here or he will be somewhere else. I don't think it is entirely scheme. Dak himself admits that we lost games because he got 'carried away' with trying to make the big plays instead of taking what the defence gave him and leaning on the run game. He admitted it but then did nothing to change it.

It took until the fourth quarter for Dak to work out how to attack the single high coverage the eagles were playing and even then he just couldn't make the throws. On game tape there are always multiple examples of guys wide open that dak misses because he usually locks on his first receiver and won't get off that read until pressured from the pocket.

Again.. next year will hopefully provide more answers but I hope it is not with a big money long term contract.

Maybe, maybe not. I don't know what they will do but I know this, it's ******** to make that decision before you hire a Head Coach. So yeah, if that's how it gets done then we all better button it up because it means that nothing is going to change. Maybe we all better get ready for a long, long winter.
Oh please, new coaches get hired with QBs already in place every year. You think the guy that got the packers job was shrilly screaming and vigorously stomping his wittle foot. Of coarse he wasn't... just like whoever gets hired here he was thanking his lucky stars he already had a franchise QB in place. Only difference here, is the coach will be getting a franchise QB entering his prime!

Roy, why do you cling to numbers and ignore the facts of the plays before your bad eyes ? Empty stats impress you more than accuracy and wins and playoffs ? So be it.

Brother Roy, I’m going to help you out of your embarrassing analysis. If Dak gets his money and continues to be consistently inaccurate, and get his empty stats while the team loses and doesn’t make the playoffs, we both lose as fans. If he somehow improves his inaccuracy and manages to make good passes CONSISTENTLY and WHEN IT MATTERS, then instead of your empty stats we get a good team and some playoff victories. Then we both win. Time will tell and good luck to us both.

Then they should give him the none exclusive tag and find out what the market will offer him. Once they know that, then the Cowboys can decide to match the offer or accept the two number 1 picks in exchange for Dak. That would serve all parties best in my view. It would once and for all, set the market or it would compensate the Cowboys for the loss of Prescott.

That wouldn’t be real market value because a lot of teams that might be willing to make an offer to Dak if he were a free agent with wouldn’t be in the mix if they had to give up 2 first round draft picks.
