Mike McCarthy's staff in Dallas continues to come together. McCarthy will reportedly keep Kellen Moore as the Cowboys' offensive coordinator, according to ESPN's Todd Archer.

Moore was the Cowboys' backup quarterback from 2015-17 before moving to quarterbacks coach in 2018. He became Dallas' offensive coordinator in 2019, calling plays for the first time in his career. The Cowboys finished 2019 No. 6 in scoring offense under Moore.

Moore will be Dallas' offensive coordinator in 2020, while former Saints linebackers coach Mike Nolan will lead the defense. The Cowboys continued to fill out their staff on Tuesday, hiring John Fassel as their special teams coordinator. Fassel had previously been the Rams' special teams coordinator since 2012

Moore was never even considering the other options he had. He was just praying Mike brought him back. No 30 year old guy in the world who calls plays for the offense of the Dallas Cowboys leaves that position to become a highschool softball coach or whatever it was they claim he was offered.

Umm he was offered OC at the University of Washington and he's from Washington so yes he thought about it with family and the opportunity to be Wash head coach in a few years

I don’t want him calling plays here. I want McCarthy to implement the offense each weeks and call the plays just like he always has except for the failed experiment late in his tenure with GB

Without knowing a thing about him I can say with 100% positivity that he never even thought about taking that job. He's got an opportunity to be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys in a few years. He would be the biggest moron in sports history if he went to Washington to be the OC if he had an offer on the table of being the OC of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. I mean...come on.

---10 years from now---

Kellen Moore is at an interview to be a head coach for a big time football team.

Resume-

Had the #1 offense in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football league for multiple years and helped lead them to playoffs several times.

or

I helped lead University of Washington's offense to the Flex Seal bowl.

Lol that first line made me question if your serious or not. If he didnt have to think why take several days. It's his HOMETOWN of course there is thought. Not everybody just knocking doors down to work for or play for dallas these days my guy. If hes a family man I'm sure he thought long and tough on the pros and cons of both

Moore was a 1st year OC with a lame duck HC. There is no denying that there were serious moments of WTH with the Dallas offense this year but there is also no denying the fact that the offense, for the most part, wasn't the reason why Dallas missed the playoffs this season. Moore did a good job and will continue to grow. Let's just hope he and McCarthy can co-exist and learn from one another for the betterment of the Cowboys.

the million dollar question should be...who calls the plays next year ?

Mike will call plays. He said his mistake late in his career was the coach that implemented the gameplan had to call the plays. He said he was trying to get guys to learn but it didn’t work.

Just sharing info. Go cowboys

You are a fountain of information!

This is a good keep. Guy is 30 years old. Did a good job last season. Some weird moments but given the dysfunction around him that was expected. I think working with McCarthy is going to do wonders for him. I still want them to keep Columbo and Kitna. Anyone have info on those 2 guys.

this is a really dumb take. Chance to go home, coach for a high profile program under his mentor, it’s a very attractive option especially when staying is kind of a question mark as far as the actual role and responsibilities under an offensive hc that calls his own plays. Obviously it’s a moot point, but to act as tho there’s not any appeal is nuts

So why is he returning to the Cowboys? Yes. People knock on the doors to coach this team. If you don't think that you are absurd. It doesn't matter how awful we are this is the biggest sports team in North America. You knock on the door about that job. Does anyone realize how big this team is or do you guys honestly just hate the Cowboys so much that you are in denial over how big this franchise really is.

Not a great leadoff to your counter.

There are some that prefer coaching in college and there's no assurance he gets the Cowboys HC job but he's at the NFL level now and if he prefers that, going back to college in hopes of returning to the NFL isn't the usual path.

In one season, he took the offense to a #1 ranking with the least amount of coaching experience I've ever seen. He has the opportunity, at a very young age, to learn from one of the most successful coaches with QB development over the last couple of decades. The fact that Big Mike wants him to stay would be enough were it me.

I see this along the lines of Zimmer agreeing to stay and learn more about D from one of the better practitioners of the 3/4 who also wanted him to stay because he saw something in him. Moore gets to learn from a WCO guy.
