Indeed we will. The Cowboys have made their opinion of Dak clear because they have a tendency to announce their contract negotiating strategy, if one can even call it that, through media.

I accept reality - what you or I think of Dak doesn't matter. You choose to live in a fantasy world.

To each their own, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to the meltdown when reality smacks you in the face. At some point, even you won't be able to ignore it.

The same reality when it pertained to Daks massive contract Dak-Zoids we're posting about since last spring.
I'll take my eyes and common sense on the Dak issue and let you guys ra ra ra ra away till we get slapped down AGAIN by a good defense scoring FG all game long once again!

You haters sound really silly with you Dak comments. Either you're just trolling or you'd know there has been MUCH worse QB's through here than Dak. I'm looking forward to seeing how McCarthy can improve Dak's game. This is a time of optimism not negatism. Have you already forgotten in a week what a decade long mess we just got out of?

Now that we can finally purge the organization for Jason Garrett's stench the biggest question that remains is what do we do with Dak?
Clearly he is not a top 5 QB, and that is ok with me, but I also cannot pay him as such even though him and his agent demand that be the case.

I also don't believe Jerry is willing to really consider an alternative. I am good with using the Franchise tag if Jerry goes out and makes another move at QB. I would not want to waste 30 million on one year if we end up signing him next off season to an even larger contract. The whole kick the can down the road with QB contracts does not seem like a prudent philosophy.

1) We bit the bullet and sign him to a Wentz type contract and move on. Do we think the Front office can find another QB? Can we find another Dak/ Minshew?

2) Franchise Dak? What does that buy us? Is it to find out if we he is the long term solution?

3) Move on from Dak right now. What options do we have?
Keenum/ Rivers/ T.Hill, Winston, Mariotta. How much do we trust our infrastructure to develop an existing qb?
The issue with tagging Dak is he does not have to report until the first game of the season. We need him day one because McCarthy is putting in a new offense. They will sign him. They need to eliminate distractions.

Expect a big-name veteran QB Rivers, Brees type to show up in Big D in the off-season.
No way Dak gets a Wentz type deal not even close.
Dak has gotten better and IMO turned the corner this year. Mechanics were so different and better. Mechanics are about reps, so another off season should make them even more solid.

He was accurate this year, minus the last few weeks when his shoulder wasn’t right. 4th in QBR is hard to dispute, and unlike his rookie year when the running game really carried the load Dak was also 2nd in yards.

He is going to get paid.

I wish they would have done it already. I would love to see how McCarthy has evaluated him

It is the single largest piece of the puzzle. Unless they plan on finding Dak’s replacement priority #1 they really need to pull the trigger and get him signed.
yes it sure is.

The cap hit for Wentz is 18.6 million because his 5 year rookie contract was extended with the new larger contract.

And because his signing bonus was relatively low, along with them putting money into roster bonuses instead of paying it up front. Jared Goff's contract was almost twice as much money on the front end.

Another Dak Hater.. Dak is going to be awesome for this team, if we don't pay him that someone else gladly will... On another note, you must be smoking some good stuff to actually believe he isn't potentially one of the better qb's in the league..

I don't think Dak plays on a tag. I believe he's had his fill of humble pie. The Jones are obviously impatient to get another SB, so there's a good chance he gets a top 5 contract. I do not think Dak is a SB quality quarterback. Rivers is probably a better passer and has yet to make a SB. Perhaps a world class defense and a top 10 offense under Dak is enough.

Mark Rypien won a super bowl. Come to think of it so did Trent Dilfer, Joe Flacco, Doug Williams, Brad Johnson, Nick Foles, and a wobbly arm Peyton Manning.

See you brought up the G word. My nightmare contract is Jared Goff. To me he is clearly the worst QB of the 2016 draft. He is JAG and the Rams( I am glad) made a huge mistake paying him...

I wouldn't worry about it honestly. He paid Zeke and that is a much more suspect contract because of the value of the RB position. Jones also said he is more confident in signing Dak after this off season than he was last off season, and he should be because Dak turned the corner. It will get done.

Would be nice for Dak to participate in all the off season program -- I'll give you that, especially with a new offense coming in. Really happy Moore is staying for that reason. No one knows Dak better.

I don't think Jerry has the gravitas to pull that move. If anything we sign him to a transnational tag and have someone sigh him and get two first round picks.

You get two 1st round picks from the non exclusive franchise tag. The transition tag gives you nothing in return. The Cowboys just have the option to match. But that's an option if he's asking for top dollar.

Dak is more than good enough to win, though I will say that none of those QBs won while taking a large chunk of the cap. Dak will have to perform at a high level to justify his contract and to take money away from other positions, but I think he showed he can do that this year.

He can also stay away until week 10 and still get credit for the contract year.

Totally agree. You have to wonder if he was a creation of McVay and his dead cap number for 2020 is 51 Million. The Rams guaranteed 110 Million to a player that isn't as good as Prescott when you factor everything in.
