Bucky Brooks take on MM. Talks about developing QBs and says he knows how to play smash mouth football and has an affinity for the running game.
He played in KC when MM was there and thinks MM will clean things up and have the Cowboys playing mistake free football.

@9:30 mark.

This season had me feeling more apathetic about the Cowboys than ever before, but with this hiring of MM, I am looking forward to the upcoming season more than I have in awhile.

I sure hope Bucky is right.

Same here, but Bucky Brooks is such a Cowboys shill that he makes Michael Irvin look like one of Rockport's 'haters'!

With this hiring it’s such a big change for us expectations seem to be high at the moment but we still have resign our own and make some free agent moves. That was Thompson’s problem w Mike in Green Bay. I’m curious to see if jerry picks up any big free agent with mike at the helm

Honestly, it’s not even so much about who McCarthy is. Though no other candidates match his experience level or level of accomplishment.

It’s the fact that he has been given the ability to pick his entire staff. The signal that he isn’t just a Jerry Jones puppet like Garrett. That’s my biggest hope.

I just have to hope that McCarthy has a strong enough personality to keep Jerry from every trying to attach the strings to his back. Which I think he does.

Unlike those that don’t think our QB is good I’m already to admit I was wrong about this being a bad hire.

From the McCarthy school to the “major league” pro staff to the confidence he exudes and to the many analysts that follow and know the game well like Brooks saying he’s the answer to the Garrett regime. I’m sold.

Jerry respects credentials, and McCarthy has them, and the track record of success. That buys him Jerry's respect and support, at least for a few years.

I've quickly come around as well. I said 'No' in that initial poll, but the more I look, the more I come to agree with this decision.

Dak took a step forward in his development last season and it would be great if McCarthy could build on that. All I need to hear now is a talking head telling me how much McCarthy values defensive tackles and safeties and I'll be grinning from ear-to-ear:)

its a refreshing balance though he and Will Cain have to offset the haters, I mean SAS and most of the Espn drones are NFL east supporting DC hating fools with all kinds of Bias.. as a DC fan I feel the very small % of Cowboys Bias supporters are necessary..

Im not saying were going to win anything but boy is it refreshing to have some new coaches with new ideas

I'm saying right now that as long as we have Dak and Cooper for the 2020 season, we're winning double disgust games at a minimum which likely guarantees us a rebuilding division.

Some guys like Screamin' A Smith and Shannon Sharpe know how to make entire careers out of 'hating the Cowboys'. They're smart enough to know that the Cowboys draw the eyes and ears and attention, and being the guy that rips them can lead to those eyes and ears being on you.

Gee Bucky. You've played with 5 different teams in a 5 year career to make that genius of an analyst?!

btw theres no such thing as mistake free football but limiting mistakes and reminding players in key moments to keep that top of mind..

I'm willing to bet that we're more aggressive than we've been in last years, despite the huge money we've got to pay out for Dak and Amari. And for three reasons:
  1. The coaching turnover necessitates bringing in new types of players to fit what they want and need.
  2. Jones believes in McCarthy and also that this team can win now and he'll spend accordingly.
  3. Jerry is closely involved in the CBA negotiations and knows as well as anyone that the salary cap is about to make a huge jump.

I am having this same experience. Also it’s really exciting how many respected players and other talking heads are coming out in support of this hire now! My vote has definitely changed!
MM FTW!!

As for HIS type players via free agency/draft........I think we expect hungry, hard-working guys regardless of whether they're choir boys or "right kind of player". I think the difference with Mike, is NO player will intimidate him, large contract or checkered past, he deal with them if it's comes to that. Not sure we can say the same about Jason.

And I think there will be different 'types' that they look at as well, specifically on the defensive line. Marinelli's type left with him, thankfully.

Why wouldn't they.....Mike's a damn good coach. Yes he got a bit lazy and complacent the last couple years in Green Bay but I think had more to do with being there too long. Kinda in line with the John Madden saying of 10 years for coaching the same team. The year off gave him a chance reset and evaluate some of his mistakes. Here's the bottom line for me, our coaches will no longer get caught with their pants down due to lack of preparation or inexperience or in-game adjustments. This alone probably cost us 2-3 Ws this season. In other words, this hiring is worth a min 3-4 Ws IMO over what our record was last year.
