It seems as though 5th, 6th and 7th round picks are speculative at best. Obviously what you do with those picks is determined by who is there when you are on the clock.
I think the team should consider one of the following options with the late round picks (5-7):
1. Trade back repeatedly from the 5th round pick on down. With enough trade backs they could end up with 5 or more picks at the end of the draft. Quantity is better than quality after about the 4th round. They are all long shots anyway. We have done well with UDFAs so essentially we would get a jump on priority free agents.
2. Use some of those picks on specialty positions. Kicker, punter, long snapper, special teams, outstanding athlete without a position. Many times players like that go undrafted.
