We have some questions at DE with Quinn and Bennett both free agents. Clowney has said he wants to play for a team he thinks can win a SB and might be willing to take a bit less to go to a winner. Seattle has some interesting free agents so they might not be able to bring him back (or some of their other key guys).

I think people are kind of short selling how dire the situation is at DE for the Cowboys. You have Lawrence and that's it. Armstrong didn't show a ton and he's probably a solid back up at best. Can you count on Gregory? Probably not. Taco is eating tacos in Miami.

DE has to be a priority in FA and/or the draft.

I would rather try to keep Quinn.

State Farm could use him in that "three ring circus fender bender commerical."

I'd rather try to keep Quinn AND Bennett. Combined they might cost just a bit more than what Clowney will likely get.

But Clowney, for all the crap he gets, was very effective even when he got hurt. He also knocked Wentz out which probably gets the Risen seal of approval!

Taking "a bit less" would still be in the $20 million/year range. I don't see how we can sink $40-45 million/year into 2 DE's.

I feel that Clowney has never lived up to the hype, or the money he's been looking for.

no because im betting we get quinn cheaper and Clownery yet again needs surgery.. so hes wanting to break the bank and we cant have tow of very similar DE in Tank and Clowney for all that cash invested..

now if Gregory and quinn are not part of it maybe we explore it but at this point hes not on the FO radar IMO..

BTW I heard when he was traded for the Seawhawks planned to keep him..

He’s never actually put up prolific sack numbers.

That said, he’s underrated as a complete DE that plays the run.

He could be a younger option to Quinn.

keep Quinn
Get 2 starters at DT

I would actually consider going after Rams' OLB Dante Fowler who played very well in Rams 3-4 scheme as he played for a 1 year prove it deal last year.

- Quinn struggled in a 3-4 scheme at Miami, and even in a 4-3, he still has his struggles vs the run, but he is the epidome of speed edge rusher
as most pass blocking OTs cannot handle his 1st step get off burst.

- Clowney like Quinn just didn't see too comfortable and natural in a 3-4 scheme which I have every thought and expectation that we will be converting to.

Lol. This shouldn't even be a topic. Dallas traded a 2020 6th round draft pick to Miami for Quinn in a deal they couldn't afford not to make.

Quinn's a keeper. BOOM!

With who's share of the money?

No. Save the money to pay Jeff Heath. Did you see how bad they were when he missed games this season...

Absolutely. Clowney is a beast.

Realistically, someone is going to give him a massive contract that he wont be able to turn down.

He couldn't get to Rodgers yesterday

What makes you think he can here?
