Amari came into camp this year considerably bigger. Not really fat or bad weight but you could see how much bigger his arms looked. I liked the idea at first because I felt it could toughen him up a bit and help against press as a true #1.
What I think it did was contribute to injures. Since camp he’s been dealing with lower leg injuries and re-aggrevated them throughout the season. He’s an explosive quick twitch guy that uses speed, quickeness, and footwork to blow by corners. How many times, especially during the second half of the season, did you see that same explosion? You can criticize it how you want but he wasn’t himself quickness wise.
Two interesting things, he’s had a history of bulking up before and having injury plagued seasons, like in 2017, his only non-pro bowl season.

Also the Cowboys have him listen at 210, which I think is closer to what he weighed when he got here.

I think if Coop gets back to 215ish it keeps him healthier and explosive. That equals less disappearances and more worthy of a 18M+ deal. Get him to sign a tag and you get the added motivation of playing for a long term deal.
