It's time for a brutally honest roster talent evaluation

Agreed with everything. Our whole D-line is in need. I like Quinn, but he's getting old. We need a young DE to compliment D-Law. We need 2 stuffing DT's. Woods was good every 3 games (not counting his games where he was injured). CB. We have 3 FA CB's. I want to tag Byron as he might be better at tracking the ball under a new defensive scheme, but I'm not sure.

We have lot of evaluating to do. I also want faster players. If you look at the Chiefs and 49ers, a lot of their players have bursts and speed. Our players are slow in comparison. We need to pay attention in the combine and observe the speed of players in positions we need.

Our DTs need an upgrade for sure. But Rod's scheme would literally rush them right out of running plays. Can't tell you how many times I saw Covington, Collins or Woods flush our DEs right out of the play allowing TWO OL to get to the linebackers (who would then overrun the play) and onto our DBs. The Packers and Vikes had guards just looking for someone to block. We definitely need to upgrade DT but I'm willing to bet any new scheme they install is going to improve our interior play.

Coop will promptly be signed by Philly, I almost guarantee that. Do we want that?
almost is into a guarantee.. lol lets let MM and his staff take a deep look and a true evaluation to see who is worth paying and who not..a good outside opinions are needed..

you can overpay to JUST keep a player from a competitor.. thats how you end up in cap hell..

AC worries me is PF injury will be on going, his other lower leg inures etc.. he can get WR money that usually is saved for Elite those wr are getting over 1500 and double digit Tds and are not injury prone.. he barely got over 1k and missed a lot of lays and games.. Gallup has shown enough to go get 2 WRs one draft one FA and bring CObb back for the same money..

lose AC but get a TE...

theres options to be sure the FO doesnt make a desperation signing..

wasn't the new coaching staff brought into maximize its players vs the old who seldom got max value out of them? so MM can work without an ac and get others involved..

Apparently the only thing one must have to become a GM is enough money to buy a team. Jerry qualifies as a GM the night his check to buy the team cleared the bank.

My post wasn't to praise Jerry as a GM. What I meant was trust the guys working with McCarthy to get these players up to snuff, you and I both know Jerry doesn't have a clue.

Probably need a sack producing pass rusher, a run stuffing DT, two tackle for loss type linebackers, a pass deflecting and intercepting safety and a looks for the ball corner.
I think Kerry Hyder would be a very good fit as a 3-4 standup DE/OLB. He has the quicks and instincts to do it. Same with Quinn. Not sure how Dlaw fits. He seems to light. He is a true 4-3 end..and in no way fits a 3-4.

I agree, especially on that last part.

Might've turned out okay-ish if you keep cycling your cheap contracts, but the drafting the past few years has been straight junk and now the roster will begin to regress once these guys get paid and other guys that can't get paid leave. Byron Jones is probably the 1st domino here.

Yup.

2018 can be good if LVE can stay healthy but if he can't perform due to his neck then that's back to back 1st rounders strikeouts

The fans and even this forum has overrated the talent and quality of the players on this team. Yes, we still compete pretty well with teams we
are clearly better than except for the Jets. We have always played down to competition and sometimes we just get outschemed. We have way
too many players who consistantly make business decisions on the field. Does anyone think we could complete realistically against the Chiefs or
49ers this year. I don't.

Under Garrett we always have that one game where one of the worst teams plays brilliantly and we look awful. Or the opposing QB can't hit the broad side of a barn....until he plays us.

That meme is very disrespectful to my Lord and Savior Jesus. Wow

Not sure if you're serious or not, but I'm a God loving and church going person so that was not my intent at all and I didn't see it as disrespectful but just as a fun little cartoon depicting that Big Mike was possibly going to be the savoir of our organization.. If you honestly feel offended by it, I will delete it, it never occurred to me as offensive, but more as a light hearted fun.

Kerry Hyder was a good value signing for sure, but when he signed the news articles said that he didn't fit into Detroit's 3-4 and that is why they didn't resign him.

Agree on Quinn, the DL player acquisitions are going to be very interesting to watch in terms of how they move to a 3-4.

I can evaluate the results over the last 24 years:

6 head coaches
21 starting QBs
1 GM

Our GM sucks.

Garrett this, Garrett that, I don't know if half of this board is in denial or just rationalizing, but things weren't going along smoothly before Garrett. This trend predates him by over a decade.

I've lost track of how many "windows" we've allegedly had but I do know the Titans accomplished more in the last 10 days than the Cowboys have done this century.

No one other than Jerry Jones would hire Jerry Jones to be his GM.

I get that Jerry sucks and we've had head coaches whom haven't had much control, but for any of us to sit here and believe we can say whom needs to be cut or let go based on how they looked under Garrett we might be slightly delusional.

With Amare, it's not just is the WR worth the money.
It's also, do you want to spend two #1's or a 1 and a 2 just to run out a cheaper rookie WR? Without Cooper, we'd definitely be drafting a WR.

Plus, both the Eagles and Commanders need WR's badly....I'd hate to have them get the veteran Cooper and see him abuse our secondary.

then get your secondary up to par to where a questionable No.2 type WR does minimal to hurt us.

the same way Cooper himself does minimal to hurt top defenses and virtually vanishes vs top CBs.

I'm not interested in making moves based on what the Eagles do and might do. I have to focus on how I can make my own team more formidable that
the rest of the NFL has to make accounts for the way we play - both on offense and defense.

Left Tackle is a much more pressing issue than many wanna admit. Left guard can be fixed instantly if we flip Connor Williams to RT and move Collins back to left guard. 2 HOLES FILLED and improved. Creates depth and saves us from drafting another guard or RT. We better take a hard look at replacing Tyron soon. He has a ton of miles on him and been banged up a lot.

Based on Collins' play at RT this year, there's no way I move him back to guard.

Are you forgetting you are on a fan message board where the whole point of it is evaluations and assessments? Why did you click on this thread if you're not into that?

Of course everyone has a right to evaluate, but the more I read through the post the more it was obvious that posters were giving up on players what seemed to be way too quickly. I honestly can't see how Dak or a good majority of our players can be given an honest evaluation with do nothing Garrett at the helm.

Wait, what? Fans can't judge players they have never met or watched film of or have any clue what their position coaches think? Fans don't know draft picks better than scouts who spend months with them instead of just reading a few website summaries?

Are you sure?

Delusional is probably a bit strong. But I agree that Garrett, Rod and Kris didn't do these guys any favors. Especially the DL and DB play.
