Columbo is the only coach I am not happy with not coming back. Thought he did a great job.

I am VERY happy, we won't have Marinelli hand picking any more DLinemen. God is he terrible at identifying talent.

I understand McClay does an overall good job but picks like Hill and Taco can't happen and someone needs held accountable.
Anyone will miss on players but really you should not be missing on 1st Rounders and high 2nd Rounders. These have to start
somewhere for you PERIOD
Taco and Hill are both immature guys with a poor work ethic. Stop picking these type guys, especially in the first 3 rounds. Pick guys that love Football and play hard all the time!! Guys like TJ Watt. Our scouting department/McClay doesn’t seem to value the hard nosed football player that has a non stop motor.

If you've seen "leaked boards" for 2017 or 2019 you have a point. I haven't.

We have leaked board from 2013 and 2016. In neither of those draft did we select a player above his draft grade. In other words, if the scouts had a 3rd or 4th round grade on him, it is highly unlikely we take him in round 2. That hasn't been the trend anyway.

Which proves nothing about the coaches overruling the scouts board in 2017 and 2019.

More like Rod Marinelli looked at measurables instead of heart and motivation and arrogantly believed that he could "coach 'em up" and turn them into something they're not. Now he's gone and now this team is left picking up the pieces of a defensive line he ruined.

heres my article

2019 is over and done with, MM is making the calls.
Who cares what happened it cant be changed.
Deal with it. No crying is going to change it.
its the changing of the guard, this is what happens when you fail and leadership has to put its big boy pants on.
we should all be happy JJ finally made a change, whether you liked the pick or not, hes here now, lets support him and the team, i did my fair share of complaining, now im on board. excited for the 2020 season hope you are too.
end of article.

Great article man

At this point, from everything I have read and seen, he's a total bust until further notice. And I don;t believe a word that "2nd source" said because I saw nothing to indicate that any of it was true.

Whereas we all saw that he wasn't active on game-days, didn't do anything when he did play, and there were multiple reports about being late and falling asleep.

A bust until he proves otherwise.
Ship him to Las Vegas.

This is an interesting take regarding Columbo. One thing in which he needs to understand is at the end of the day and the team loyalty was with the last regime, and not the current one.

If he was coaching a scheme outside of what our new coach is wanting to implement then "team loyalty" shouldn't have anything to do with him being kept if he isn't the right fit for the scheme being implemented.

Ok let’s take another look at the Oline. First I personally really liked Columbo and I thought he did a good job this year especially on pass blocking. Last year the injuries riddled that line and it’s not much anyone could do. But I you look at the yards before contact plays, they have been regressing since Zeke’s first year culminating to their worst this year. Even with the injuries last year the line run blocked better then this year, though the pass blocking got better. So idk but there is some major inconsistencies.

Second round picks aren't what they used to be.

In a cap world you like to get value before that 2nd contract looms.

That's why i felt that the Jaylon Smith selection was so poor. By the time he got up to speed his 2nd contract decision had arrived and they really didn't get an opportunity to do a proper evaluation.

Not to mention the Cowboys could have used a serviceable or better player during that 13-3 run in 2016.

Drafting projects in the 2nd round are huge gambles that really shouldn't be taken if teams are thinking of competing immediately.

Looking at you Hill.

Meh, on to bigger and better things.

We don’t know where Taco and Hill was graded at by Will and we also most understand what Will’s role is as he is the talent evaluator, not the GM with the final decision on who to pick.

Just shows how little DD we do on players. Its like our scouting department watches tape and looks at a stat sheet to make decisions. If the guy is lazy and difficult to coach, why would you draft him that high? This was a bad pick from day 1. We would draft better if we fired the scouting department and just went with the consensus internet opinion.

Yes this wasn’t a good pick, well at least at this moment. But you have know idea how much DD they do. How do you explain the good picks, luck??
