Could Elliott surpass the 2,000 yrd mark next season? I think big things are coming for #21. We just need things to come together for this kid, when they do. He’s gonna be a champion and he’s bringing the Cowboys with him.

nope...Let me first say that he is a top 5 back in the league. He does not have Emmitt's heart or will to be a true mans, man. He completely quit on a play last year and taped out this year at an crucial point in a game. Pollard will get more touches next year and Zeke wont care because he's paid for now. He's still more of a spoiled child/man than a man at this point.

Reminds me of the game Cam fumbled the ball in the big game and just stood there and looked at it.

probably between 1,100 and 1,300 with pollard between 500-700

Let me get this straight- Pollard will get more carries than Zeke but 600 less yards? That's efficiency by Zeke.

I think people in here are vastly over estimating how much Zeke will be used in the passing game next year

MM has never had a running back that has been used as a massive weapon in the passing game like many on here seem to think

What do you base this on? This past season he had SIX games with 60 yards or less, TWO of them in the 40's ONE of 35 on 18 carries. He'll be another year older and another year of the pounding

A runner needs break away runs and a lot of them to get the 2000 yd goal. Zeke has shown he is not that runner. He's a pound and grind runner. He did show it his rookie year but has had less and less long runs since. Zeke often gets tackled by one guy when out in the open ... in fact most of the time. For the Cowboys to get their money's worth they need to use him quite a bit in the screen game.

Maybe new blocking schemes break him open.

I'd be shocked if he gets over 1800 yards. Gotta be realistic in what we have.

no, not more carries just more than he got this year. if that means touches out of the backfield or short passes so be it.

Good post. However, I doubt Pollard will surpass Zeke in touches being Jerry didn't pay him $90 Million.

I have a gut feeling Zeke will be like a manicured lawn by having a new RB Coach & HC. This team played as it was coached last season and it showed. McCarthy will have 5his team disciplined no doubt.
sorry poor wording.. just more than he got this year.

If he does, how many of his yards be during "Garbage Time"?

I keed, I keed.

While I would not bet on it, it would be possible if two things happen.

1. Zeke working on his cardio. He pulled himself out too much last year to have a shot to get to 2K yards.
2. The offense would have to jump out to early leads so that we could just run the ball late in games.

But man, that is a crap load of carries, 400+ at 5 ypc, and with the other players we have on the team, that would be a waste IMO.

I myself, would rather see Zeke have a little less than 300 carries (had 301 last year) and Pollard having ~150 or so (had 86 last year).

This is not because I hate Zeke or believe Pollard better, ect. I think Zeke is clearly the better of the two, but he has been used WAY more than other RBs in the NFL.

2016 - Had 23 more carries than #2, or a whole game's worth, and he only played 15 games that year (healthy scratch week 17)
2017 - Even with the 6 game suspension, was 10th in the NFL in carries. His 24.2 carries a game easily surpassed Peterson's 21.5 and Bell's 21.4, #2 and #3 on the list
2018 - Had 43 more carries than #2, or TWO games worth, and he only played 15 games that year too (healthy scratch week 17)
2019 - Was #2 in carries, by two attempts. but yet only ended up 4th in Rushing.

If Zeke is going to make it through his contract and still be productive, I believe we have to give him less of a workload and hope he can do more with the carries he does get.

Maybe he can take the pounding and still be productive in 4 years from now, but with a guy as capable as Pollard on the team, I don't think Zeke has to do it all himself.

Zeke is a great player still, but if he is pounded into a wall at a pace no other RB in today's NFL goes through, it's hard to have the expectation that he will be great for long.

why does he need that? Maybe ALL Purpose YES thats what this team needs..most backs who have career years in rushing like Chris2k etc and Murray and im betting henry will feel the effects end up shortening their careers..

he had a good year this years regardless of what the troll's try to pass off, id like to see more receptions in his future and Pollard taking carries away and have zeke fresh in the 4th Qtrs and late in the seasons..

getting near 1400 yards and 12tds plus finish 30yards from 3rd in the league, hows is that bad? hes been the most productive and consistent back in the league since 2016..His toughness, durability and consistency is what ES did to have a longer career..

we dont need to run his legs off , we need to have him longer and aside from getting more receptions and a threat in the passing game hes fine in the run game.. if this year was an off year I can live with that even thought thats ridiculous to even say..

its terrible narrative from those that dont think he should have got paid and now have him under a ridiculous magnified expectations..

ill take this same year again the next 3 years and simply have the coaching staff utilize his talent in the pass game..

What happens when he tapped out? What was the result of the play with zeke off the field? On that specific play?
