I'm a Laker fan. Nobody saw Dwight Howard (locker room cancer for over 6 different NBA teams) being a team first guy this year with the Lakers. He even butted heads with Kobe last time he was there. But...he somehow got humbled and (finally) saw the light. In short: he balling and the Lakers are benefiting from his resurgence.

If Dwight can change, Dez can change. If he has anything left in the tank, MM needs to at least kick the tires.
A Leopard can’t change his spots. Howard will eventually do what he always does and that’s ruing lockeroom chemistry.

He was a good blocker and have you seen Witten.. he just gets in peoples way he’s not some awesome blocker. It would be nice to get some run after the catch from the TE position for a change.
Being a blocker outside against smaller DBs is entirely different than blocking on the O-Line against OTs and LBs that are much larger guys, and different from being the attacker whereas blocking from TE at times requires helping pick up attacking blitzers.

And while it's true Witten isn't a dominating blocker and is more of a seal off/get in the way kind of blocker on the O-Line, that still takes the discipline and understanding and willingness that I doubt Dez has. I suspect Dez is thinking of himself really as just a WR who would start his routes from a different position, and not considering other aspects of the position.

And, let's not forget he is 2 years removed from the game, and would be learning a new position, and had an achilles injury that was repaired and would need to be tested.

I would be interested in knowing what the coaches that have game planned against him think about that. Big Mike definitely has an opinion of what he was on the field.

As far as what he was off the field and on the sideline, I do not think it is fair to say that a man that has been through what he's been through is that same man. He, obviously, wants to be a Cowboy or he wouldn't put himself out there as he does.

I don't know how effective he would be but he did become a good run blocking WR but with a surgically repaired Achilles, how would he be in those 50/50 balls requiring quick elevation?

I wasn't a Bryant fan, didn't even want them to draft him, knowing what I knew, but if he could truly help the team, a man that wants to come back as badly as he seems to want that might be interesting to check him out. The key would be $ and how many plays would he get?

Rocky, can a man change? A leopard lives by instinct. He's been injured and put out to pasture, not many teams came calling and he thought he would be in demand. Life has a way of humbling some people and teaching some very hard lessons.

I wonder how many times he sat there watching the Cowboys, and I think he watched every game, thinking to himself 'I should be there' and eventually did that evolve into 'why am I not there'?

And even if they did, how would Cooper, if they keep him, respond to Bryant's strong personality? They wouldn't consider him at TE, it would have to be as a slot or 4th WR.

At the very least, he'd be a good red zone weapon for Dak to completely miss on.
It's hard to make a limited roster simply as a guy who can occasionally outjump other players in the end zone, and it would need to be seen if the achilles injury has hurt that leaping ability some.

Yes, people can change but Dez has showed no signs of it. I mean he’s still dissing Garrett to this day. Maybe Garrett deserves it who know, but you don’t come out on Twitter and disparage a coach that just got fired. So I don’t think Dez has changed. He was a one trick pony WR to begin with and has gotten older, slower and certainly less athletic. Also, I don’t think an ole school coach like MM would want to bring him into his locker room.

Dez Bryant could've been one of the best catch and run WR's there has ever been. Like Owens.

Garrett insisted on him running 9 routes all game though.

Dez should've been targeted on quick screens, slants, drags, and let him go. He was so hard for DB's to bring down but Dallas always wanted him running that 9 route and going for 50/50 balls.

Dallas has always called an offense that allows the defense to take away your best players and Owens, Dez, Miles, and Cooper have all been a victim of that for stretches.

You tried the Witten and Lee way and went 8-8. Without Dez the Cowboys started 3-5 before trading a no.1 pick for Amari Cooper who they look willing to let go.

Looks like Dez deserves as much another chance as Witten and Lee. You think he can not play a Shannon Sharpe role for the Cowboys that Shannon at the end of his career played for the Ravens? If you think not, you do not know football.

There is one thing that is not in doubt about Dez Bryant, he loves the Dallas Cowboys. I think the Cowboys are too much in love with Jerry Jones instead of the team that is the Dallas Cowboys. Dez loves the Dallas Cowboys.

..hey, you never know. MM will have a whole new system on offense playing out. He could fit the bill. Dez was a heck of player here, to bad his mouth got him in trouble.

I wouldn't be against him trying out for the spot. He shouldn't be given a spot, though.

Could have been? Maybe, although I think it's far from certain to assume he could have reached anything like the levels TO did. But even if that is true, TE is a different position than WR, Dez will turn 32 during the 2020 season, and he hasn't played in 2 years and has had an achilles injury in the meantime.

He's not really going to play TE. He just want to work the middle of the field like an Anquan Boldin or Larrry Fitzgerald.

He'll never play TE and that's not what he meant anyways.

I honestly pictured as an actual TE. Similar to the talk of using Noah Brown as a tight end that bounced around for a bit.
